Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
Hmmm, ok not sure but will have a guess
1. 2 years 6months made 5 defences
2, Ali
edit: just checked the answers, i'll get my coat.
Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
Not entirely sure on these, but I'll have a guess anyway without looking at anyone else's answers.
Liston successfully defended the title once (Patterson rematch) and lost it in 1964 (?) to Cassius Clay.
And was the first man to win the title twice Patterson?
Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
I think I might actually know these !!
1. He lost it in Feb 1964 so 17 months (know Ali born in January and he said "I just turned 22 years old and I upset Sonny Liston I must be the greatest" in the post fight interview)
Uhh no I don't know how many times Liston defended it damn. guess....twice ?!?
2. Patterson
Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
1 successful defense for Liston, against Patterson. At one point, he'd fought the fewest championship rounds of any heavyweight champion...may still be true. 3 of his 4 title fights ended in the first round.
Patterson also figures in the other question...regained the title against Johannsson, and was the first to do so.
Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
Good thread...I hope you don't mind if I add to it rather than starting a new one...how about... "The Name Game"?
1) Arnold Raymond Cream was better known as...?
2) What was Joe Louis's middle name?
3) What was Sugar Ray Robinson's real name?

only knew Louis surname from whan I went to visit his grave in 2009 !
Re: Thursday Boxing trivia
You guys made short work of #s 2 & 3, but Arnold Raymond Cream is still a mystery!
He was a world champion boxer, he also refereed at least one famous heavyweight title fight, and he was very active as a commissioner, as well.

Good luck, no fair looking it up. :lightingzapA:
