Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
Watching some of his early fights, he had a great jab, good movement, good speed. Yet only a few years later he bulked up a bit and basically threw that all away, then just relied on "The Smash", and just stood toe to toe looking for that one punch.
Razor Ruddock could of gave Mike Tyson even more trouble, had he not thrown away all his talent. It's actually quite shocking how much his boxing style changed in only a few years, it's like im not even watching the same fighter.
Re: Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
I think he just fell in love with his power just like many of the other fighters have..... Most recently Juanma..
His " SMASH " was a great equalizer and he started putting too much stock into it.. Was a one hell of a punch though..
If he was around today, ohhhh man.. He would have done some things.

The way he sets himself for that final left - ouch. He virtually jumps off the ground to put his full weight behind it
Re: Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
Ruddock showed good skills when he outpointed Mike Weaver, he also boxed really neatly and had good movement in a number of his earlier fights.
But as someone has already said , power sometimes goods to the head and they just turn into plodding KO punchers.
Re: Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
I played the fool the night of Ruddock/Dokes. We were watching the fight at a Mexican restaurant (the Sandoval family, including Alberto, but not Richie) were at the next table, there were six or seven in my group. I was telling everybody how Ruddock moved good, had a nice jab, didn't punch much...

I do think Ruddock vs Bowe would have been his best chance to rule the division.
If 'Razor' was around in his prime today he would be a devastating fighter.......but he wouldn't beat the Klitschko's.
God himself couldn't beat the Klitschkos.
Well maybe Wlad if he got a lucky punch in on him, but definately not Vitali ! ;D:rolleyes:
Re: Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
Rudduck did love that left uppercut/hook of his, but he should have developed his jabbing and right hand far more. It nearly knocked out Tyson with it but in the end he ended up a one dimensional fighter. Think Bonecrusher had him down in the early part of his career. Power punchers get lazy when they should be developing their plan B.

Plenty of fighters would have/could have beaten the Klitschko's, but not people on Ruddock's level....maybe at one point in time he would have tested Wlad, but shit man Tommy fucking Morrison handed Ruddock his ass
Re: Razor Ruddock Why Did He Turn Into A One Dimensional Brawler ?
He spent the rest of his career selling out for one punch and nearly all the pundits etc spent it mostly talking about him decapitating Dokes.
