Should b an interesting fight.quiet like Murray and am intrested to c how he copes with this massive jump in class.way I c it he's nothing to lose.wins the fight he's world champ early in his career if he loses gd learning curve for him and hel come again.do u think he's maybe getting strum at the right time? I think he's defo got a gd chance he's a massive middle weight with decent skills
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
Sturm was fortunate to escape with a SD over Macklin and he's luck should be running out anytime now.. Murray just has to keep up the workrate . He's a live dog here.

it's in Germany. Sturm has a couple point advantage to start with. I really doubt Murray can win this

Im not saying Murray wins.. I certainly wouldnt pick him or put money on the dude or anything.
Based on styles, he's a live dog that's all im saying.
I know it's in Germany but hometown advantages can only take you so far before something unexpected hits you. Based on how he looked against Macklin, i dont see why he would do any better with Murray.. It's not like he's elevating his game after each fight.
Not an easy fight at all for Sturm..
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
Macklin threw over twice as many punches as Sturm and landed about 250 power punches to Sturms 100 or so. Apparently outlanding your opponent in powerpunches in 12 rounds out of 12 isnt enough to win a decision any more, who knew? To say Murray needs a knockout to win is an understatement.
Felix Sturm vs. Matthew Macklin - CompuBox
Having said that he does have good bodywork and Sturm is open there due to the highheld guard, so you never know.

Honestly, I agree with you all the way. It should be close, but Sturm probably wins a decision just because of hometown advantage. 115-113 or 116-112 should be it.

Fighting Strum on his home ground, there is no way Murray
could win a decision.? Only if he ko's him ;D
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
Sturm by wide decision or late ko
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
I don't want to make wild predictions but i would not be massively surprised if Murray stops Sturm with a rib breaking body punch. I live in hope, because otherwise in Germany, as has been said, Murray can't even look for even treatment from the German homeboy judges.
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
Another brave defeat for a British fighter facing a world-level opponent too soon overseas.
Re: Strum v Murray wot u guys think?
On this one, I quite like Martin Murray. I was dissapointed to see Macklin lose the decision when he fought Sturm. I guess the thing that let Macklin down was defending shots with his face in the second half of the fight, i'd say Murray's defense won't be as leaky. Plus, I kinda felt if Macklin had more power, Sturm would have folded.
Another point for me was I couldn't help feeling Sturm made an almost "desperate" last stand after the half way mark and dragged it out of himself. Under the right pressure he's gonna wilt again sooner or later just like he did against Castillejo. If Murray is fast from the get go and can keep it up longer than Macklin and compliment that with a better defense than Macklin i see Murray winning. I have a feelin that Murray punches harder than Macklin too, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Sturm get stopped late.
