i agree
its happening all the time, virtually every fight i watch
even cintron v canelo
cintron was getting battered yes, but he was still on his feet and was being paid plenty of money for being in the ring
It sucks but it' ll stay that way depending on the ref and the location of the bouts.
The Enzo stoppage was definitely premature, along with many other fights we've seen over here in recent months (particularly Brook/Jackiewicz and Fury/Pajkic) but I don't agree with Canelo/Cintron... Cintron was dead on his feet in the previous round and could barely make it back to his corner. I was surprised he managed to come out for the next round, yet he still looked in another world. I still feel that was a fair stoppage, nothing good could have come from letting that fight continue.
The Brook stoppage was the worst because although he was clearly dominating every round, he hadn't actually managed to hurt his opponent up until that point. And lets remember, this was an experienced opponent who had never been stopped before. It was a joke.
It's already been said but instant replays should be instituted because some officials are total fools or incompetent or both. In this case, the ref should be retrained or refrained from making this mistake with a short vacation in a class room or and appointment with his eye doctor.
I've been annoyed since we lost 15 round fights. I understand safety concerns, but IMO, those last 3 rounds separated the champs from the chumps. Premature stoppages fall under the same umbrella as far as I'm concerned.
first time i seen that maccrinelli fight that stoppage was ridiculous ref was chomping at the bit to stop that.
It happens everywhere but for some reason, I see alot of premature stoppages on the Euro scene.
Calzaghe-Manfredo= criminal.. It's as if the ref was payed a bonus under the table to secure an early KO for Cal under any circumstances.. Not to say that Manfredo had a chance but the stoppage wasn't right at all.
Yupp U.K it happens all the time. Pisses me off. Another thing that pisses me off is how they stop fights as soon as the opponent has a tiny nick. Anyone remember Fury vs Peret? Peret had the smallest scratch and the ref called it off after round 2. Absolute nonsense. Same with the Khan Mccloskey fight..i was enjoying that fight. Khan was being made to look amateur!
I wonder if it was Khan or Enzo cut or staggered would the ref be so quick to stop it???
Job biscuit (I DON'T THINK SO)!!!
eh eh!!!
Enzo fight, Chavez Jr. fight, Canelo fight. All situations where the ref stopped the fight pretty darn early in favor of a hometown fighter. Such a shame as all three guys were robbed of the chance for a legit stoppage.
and the last 2 were supposed to be "world title fights". I attach no meaning to the absolutely useless trinkets but when the alphabet organizations, promotional companies, television networks, and fighters point out the belt involved, then shouldn't they at least act like it is a major fight where both fighters are to be given all chances to win the belt????
Very hard to win in a guy's hometown. You have to beat the judges, the ref, and the other fighter!!!!
Was I the only one that noticed how small that ring was 0.o
I can see were you are coming from on this post?
But I would rather see it stopped,to soon rather
than to late.
Duran v Moore in that fight Moore, took a beating
the ref was a prick.
JC v JL Lacy, in that fight 12 round's of a one sided
hiding, that was down to the people in his corner.?
You would have to say after that fight end of Lacy's,
career.? Ref's and corner men, should protect the
fighter's. I for one don't like to see fighter's, leaving
the ring on a stretcher.?
Yes blood snot and glory, but I don't want to see anyone
killed.?
Tyson Fury’s last 2 fights have been stopped prematurely, Cintron was out of it and Manfredo was not punching back so should have been stopped. Would Gatti v Ward been allowed to carry on nowadays in that brutal round where Ward?
