What the heck is Soto up to?
He fought a war with Antillon, which in addition to being a fight of the year contender, was arguably the best win of his career, and then for all intents and purposes avoided a rematch with Antillon and basically took off 2011 with four fights against non-descript opponents. He says he wants a fight with Amir Khand Marcos Maidana. I'll believe it when I see it.

Re: What the heck is Soto up to?
He was at his best at 126-130 and he should have never went above that. He claims making weight was the biggest issue but those were his best divisions regardless. He always had good skills and even punching power was a big part of his game..
He just couldn't carry his power up to 135. As a lightweight, he had to box more cuz the naturally bigger foes weren't feeling his punches..
And now he's at 140 where chances of making an impact goes down even more.. Maybe a Guzman rematch or Robert Guerrero..
I understand he was chasing the bigger fights above 126 and alot of them didnt materalize but he has to be held accountable for some of those fights not happening.
Today he seems to just enjoy winning minor titles while hoping to hit the jackpot against a big name...
The highlight of his career has to be his upset victory over an undefeated Juarez. He was so amazing to watch in that bout and many people felt he was going places after the victory. That fight really sticks out to be because it was actually In Jin Chi VS Juarez for the interim WBC title before Chi pulled out with a tendon injury.. Soto was fairly unknown at the time and wasnt expected to pose a real threat..
His team needs to match him up carefully if they wanna stay winning. Guys like Morales, Guzman, Maidana and even Guerrero aren't bad fights for him.

Re: What the heck is Soto up to?

Yeah I had Guzman cleaning up in that fight
Re: What the heck is Soto up to?
not that it matters. Its just opinion. A rematch would be interesting
Re: What the heck is Soto up to?
Guzman didnt school shit. lol
Re: What the heck is Soto up to?
If I remember correctly I had it 116 - 112 & that was with giving everything I could to Soto. Maybe it was a complete clinic but I had him ahead pretty decisively...
But yeah I'd like to see a rematch
