Golden Era's that never panned out

Have you ever looked at the youth in a division and said to yourself "Wow it's going to be bad as crap when these guys are all battling for the belts" only to wind up years later thinking "I wonder whatever happened to _____?" Well David Lemieux's loss to Joachim Alcine got me thinking about this. At or around 160 we've got plenty of young, developing, & newly developed talent but recently the losses and narrow escapes of defeat have me second guessing how great middleweight will be these coming years.


I remember 140 with: Hatton, Cotto, Bojado, Abdullaev, etc...well out of those guys only Cotto and Hatton ever did anything. How about: Owen Beck, Joe Mesi, Duncan Dokiwari, Domonick Guinn, Audley Harrison, DaVaryl Williamson, etc.....not 1 of them amounted to Jack Squat! well maybe Sam Peter he can be included, he won a title & Sergei Liakhovich won a title.

Can you guys think of any divisions or eras where you thought were going to be great but ended up sucking.

And I'm not saying these guys were all destined for greatness, but the ERA failed to live up to the potintial

I was hyped up about Whitaker, Tito and Quartey but they never fought each other as champions. The greatest and biggest fight of Tito and Oscar ended up badly too.

Yeah and Hatton, Cotto, & Bojado never fought each other either....though Panchito can be happy about that he was by far the worst. I never understood why people liked him or what they saw in him.
