Gurkhas, what do those from the UK think of them ?
A few months ago I saw a TV program "Deadliest Warrior" which pitted these little crazy people against the French Foreign Legion and predicted that Gurkhas would prevail.
Anyway they seem to be an important part of the military history of the UK and receive a lot of praise for their tenacity.

What do you know of them ?
My father was in Burma in WW2,he told me these men were warrior's great people you could trust with your life.He told me the Jap's were very fearful of them there jungle skill's second to none.

Can I say the Gurkha s, have been a part of the British Army for many year's and they have given there
live's for this country from WW2 to present day. How do you judge them the Bravest of the brave
with out a doubt.

As a Brit, Im more than happy to have them on our side rather than us fighting against them!
They are so loyal to the Queen it's carzy, and recently in the UK, Joanna Lumley fought for their rights regarding pensions which went to Parliment and eventually got passed. How on earth we can expect them to fight for us, then not to offer them a pension is ridiculous, after a huge outcry from the British public we managed to secure them pensions and honour them with such.

I'm based at the same barracks as the gurkhas so I know first hand that they are good guys. They are in separate squadrons but we work alongside them. They are hard workers, very fit and hard working. They are a lot more reserved than the brits but they are confident.

We are treating them very poorly considering the history they have with us. They are being made redundant and have had to fight for their pensions. Great loyalty from us for the bravery they have shown.

The Gurkha's and all our armed Force's deserve gratitude, we should support them all and thank ever one of them on a job well done.

I was in the Parachute Regiment for three years and we did a lot of training and a few tours with those guys. Excellent soldiers, disciplined, brave, fit and ferocious.
The Gurkha Regiment started after the British invaded and colonised large parts of the Himalayas. They were so impressed with the courage and ferocity of Nepalese resistance (same with the Zulus and the Sikhs) that they immediately allowed them to join the British Army, initially as mercenaries, then in their own regiment.
Of course, not all Nepalese are fit, brave, polite soldier-material ...... acceptance to the Gurkha Regiments of Britain and India is one of the highest status things that one can do in nepal - so competition is brutal and only the best of the best get in.
Excellent soldiers, excellent people ....... and you can indeed argue that the British governement treated them badly when they retired etc, but dont foget that the relationship is essentially a mercenary one so there was no traditional obligation to provide UK standard benefit afterwards. 5 years in the Gurkhas will set a family up for life in nepal.

X said much of the things that I was going to point out, and the treatment that they get in the UK hasn't been exemplary in the way that they have served in our military. It is only around 1 or 2% of the applicants that actually get in, and they are the best of the best.
There was the recent story in the media about one of the Gurkha's who held off a lot of enemy soldiers while protecting his injured colleagues.

I've interacted with some in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Very professional and lethal.

That's the trouble with the UK government, we use these people and abuse them in armed conflict's then
we forget about them, as with all our Armed Force's.!
When shit happen's these people are the first there into conflict , and some pay the ultimate price with there
live's, I myself have never been in the Armed Force's but my late Father, was in WW2 in Burma.
The Gurkha's and all our Armed Force's, deserve our respect I :appl: you all.
