Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
Peterson vs. Marquez on July 14th on PPV at the Cowboys Stadium looking good, says Arum
Good Old Bob Arum throws a spanner in the works and in what seems like an effort to thwart Golden Boy and their proposal of a rematch between Khan and Peterson offers the Washington fighter a chance to face Pacquiao or Bradley in November if he can beat Marquez in July after a tuneup fight in March. What a load of Baloney.

I really wish Arum would go away and go play shuffle board somewhere down south with Larry Merchant. The guy is in his 80's and he is always in the damn news more then his fighters.

I have long been of the opinion that Ortiz would ruin Khan, even in the aftermath of the Maidana fight. His style is just all wrong for Khan.
Re: Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
Like I've said before the only time I want to hear arum's name in the news is if he's retiring the old git. He doesn't give a damn about the sport or his fighters, only cares about his pockets.
Re: Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
At this point, I don't know. Khan got the skills to outbox anyone. Khan being pressured by Peterson was the blueprint and IMO, Ortiz pressure would be more harmful to Khan simply because, he's going to throw punches unlike what Peterson did. Might not be as consistent be more explosive. Now, since Floyd was about to back Ortiz up, and pop him with a 12 punch(1, 2 - jab, straight), whose to say Khan can't do the same? He have the hand speed. Should be a good fight if it happens.
Re: Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
I have no doubt that Khan would bust up Ortiz, Arum has prevented Khan fighting Bradley or Peterson, what a spiteful businessman.
Re: Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
I am not a man that would typically wish death upon anyone, but I repeatedly wish it upon Bob Arum. Cardiac arrest for that man would be a delightful thing for the typical boxing fan.
Re: Arum talk of tuneup fights for Peterson and Marquez before showdown
General observation, guys: Fighters continue to sign with Top Rank. Thus, it's hard to argue on a general basis at least that Top Rank does their fighters wrong. Top Rank usually only looks out for their fighters, which is their job, right? Maybe I'm misterpreting the gripe. Also, it's naive to believe that Oscar & GB, or other promoters for that matter, act any differently.

This is wrong. Bradley dodged Khan prior to signing with Arum, and in terms of Bradley's success, it probably was the smart thing to do if he ends up facing Pacquiao. Bradley could have signed with GB, right?
Why did Bradley and Peterson sign with Top Rank?
I'm not completely a defender of Arum per se, but I believe the "Arum's ruining boxing" is way overdone. Which promoter promoted last year's fight of the year in the Wolak v. Rodriguez I? Top Rank. Who signed them for a rematch? Cotto v. Margarito? Soto v. Antillon? Got boxing into a football stadium? I'm playing devil's advocate, clearly, because there is no doubt he's done wrong in the sport too. Still, the anti-Arum bit is overdone.

I feel this deserves a thread of it's own
Is Bob Arum ruining boxing?
