Have any of you cynical bastards bought into the idea of valentines day? Got the missis a card, or flowers? To my shame all I have done is eat a jubbly meal she made and will probably acquiesce should she want a quick bounce on Mr Boa later.

Nope. My misses got me some chocolate though. I cant go wrong, my misses is a pisser she sees right through all that bullshit.
In her teens for a bet she rode her horse in and through the main bar in the Exchange Hotel in Foster in south Gippsland here.;D
I got the Rib a gift certificate to Victoria Secrets. Figured its a win/win
I dont buy into that shit !!!!
But the Mrs does...so i sent her flowers and took her out for dinner....my forehead hurts a bit...must be from the thumb on it ;D
I told the missus on the morning beofre i went to work not to bother spending any money on me for Valentines, he reply was, "what if i already have?" Bugger i thought, I will have to get her something now
After work went to Tesco's got card, bunch of lily's, a dozen red roses, some pink champagne and some chocolates for her. I was pleased with my bottle of JD :)
I saved myself some money by having a fight with her the day before and just made up today. ;)
Valentine's day is my birthday and so I don't bother with anything. It is all about me and with it being a birthday it is impossible to trump that.
Believe it or not Korea also has White day which is on March 14th and like Valentine's day part two. A total corporate scam if ever there was one.
The whole thing is for suckers really. It's just another day of the year and you are expected to play the game. I don't see the point.
I'm the same with Christmas out here. I just don't bother. It has no meaning. Christmas day or June 13th. It's the same thing, just different weather.

...grab a kleenex
I celebrated Valentines day by enjoying the fact I'm alone. Nice and quiet. ;D
Gandalf,
White Day (March 14th) is also celebrated in Japan. I think it was pretty cool how there was a day for women to go after the men and buy them chocolate, send them a gift to their office, take them out for dinner, etc. And then March 14th the guy did all that for their woman. Quite a balance. In the USA I mostly see women being taken out for dinners, flowers sent to their office, women receiving jewelry from their man, etc.
