Who is your favourite Lord of the Rings character?
There are a lot of funky characters in these books. There are some really weird fuckers too. I like a lot of the characters. Gollum is fascinating in terms of the whole deranged schizo thing. Bilbo is kind of cool in that he is playful, but is getting old and knows it. He has to let go of the ring and waltz off into retirement. Gandalf is wonderful, wise, powerful and has honed down the art of beard growing to a tee, but he gets duped by Saruman, so is fallible and he dies too which is never cool. Sauron is just a gay. He can't even find it within himself to be anything more than some kind of burning eye thing. He wouldn't be good company for a biscuit and a cup of tea. Frodo is a bit lame too with his wide eyed 'I can't make it, I can't make it' schtick. He pisses me off. Sam on the other hand is fantastic. A real rock. Legolas is a complete homo with his prancing and bow and arrow shooting. I didn't like treebeard either. I found him annoying. I don't really have much time for talking trees.
I would probably say Gandalf as that is the role I have taken, but I like Gollum, Sam and Bilbo too. I would like to kill all the elves as they speak gobbledegook and I would put Treebeard in a zoo.
Re: Who is your favourite Lord of the Rings character?
Interesting question...my answer would be Faramir or Imrahil, from Dol Amroth, or Eomer of Rohan. If it were a 'Hobbit" question it would certainly be Thorin because he died well, and he is my favorite character overall.
I like the others because they were valiant and fair in their dealings and didn't drag along a ton of baggage and drama with them. You know? No sacred missions or destinies to be fullfilled, they just acted right and came to fight because that is what men are supposed to do.
Re: Who is your favourite Lord of the Rings character?
I'm not really a massive Lord of the Rings fan, but I enjoy them for what they are. I recently did watch the trilogy again as I am working my way through the IMDB top 250 films list. They are fun enough and seeing as we have the Baggins clan, just thought I would put it out there.
Tolkien is hardly Satre, but I prefer these kinds of adventure films over most of the blockbusters that get put out every summer. There is scope and ambition and I respect that. I was very let down by Indiana Jones 4.
I watch films, but read more. That is if I am not out gallivanting across the countryside in the freezing cold.

I admire Peter Jackson as a film maker, Bad Taste and Heavenly Creatures were great but I have no wish to spend 12 hours watching the trilogy. I very rarely watch films anymore it just seems a bit passive and I spend the whole time thinking , I could be writing a tune or doing something more productive.
1000 posts in 3 months and you can't watch a couple films becuase of worrying about being productive?

It took me more than 3 months to post 1000 times. I find whilst waiting for video to render and batch processing audio into codecs in my home studio I can use my phone to post on here. I don't really understand how despite being at home all day you do so little. I am not in the best of health and am a carer but I have to do creative things at home or else I would go mad and be very skint.
I am a little ocd and do waste time on here, but again you have in excess of 25,000 posts but like your faith it's a case of do as I say not as I do. You seem to spend more time sniping at my activities than actually doing anything yourself. Wind your neck in and stop taking everything I say like it is a personal attack on you. I am not scoffing at people who enjoy films just saying that I don't often do so myself.:lickish:

True that. There are some right old weird 1980's hair cuts in there.
The kind that only homo's would sport and in particular the male elves.

The vagina, thought I recognised it. :)

I liked Gimli because he was pretty much the comedian of the entire group, even in the face of danger. In fact, ESPECIALLY in the face of danger.

Much like myself, dwarves are very dangerous over short distances. Like that between the beer fridge and the sofa.
