The skeptic in me expected as much.
Not really A same day weigh in at all. Agree with the writer 100%.
You can’t have a day before weigh in and then have a same day weigh in with a 10% ALLOWANCE for weight gain and call it a same day weigh in. Let’s get serious. That’s like saying 176 meets the requirements of a 160 same day weigh in. How does this improve the status quo and why even fucking announce such stupidity as some kind of reform.
Take the time or don't. To many characters which really means 5 minutes of your life lol.
Halestorm Sports Network WBC’s Same Day Weigh-in; Worth the “Weight”?
Re: The skeptic in me expected as much.
It amounts to a half-assed, token effort by Jose Sulaiman, who for years has been known for his outrageous bias in favor of Mexican fighters... and who is buddies with JCC Sr., which means that protecting Junior is definitely in his best interests. I also agree with the writer. It's a good idea gone terribly bad. Does it surprise me? Not one bit. Nothing this ancient mummy does is surprising to me. Which is why the reins need to be taken from him, and replace him with a young, objective, knowledgeable person who actually gives a shit about boxing and not just his Mexican cohorts.
This 10% shit is a slap in the face to those of us who want meaningful improvements in boxing.
Re: The skeptic in me expected as much.
I'm not really sure what I felt about bringing in same day weigh ins in the first place, but I agree that this is pointless. Sad thing is, it will probably still pose a big issue for Chavez Jr, has his fight night weight been released for any of his last few bouts? I wouldn't be surprised if he has been weighing a good deal more that 16 pounds over in the ring lately, the guy is a huge middleweight. I'd rather see them actually test him properly without question marks before and after the fight.
Re: The skeptic in me expected as much.
Exactly guys. I mean why even announce it?
Its window dressing and a band-aid that only sticks on one side. How about light heavyweights not be allowed to fight at 160? No, ok then how about they at least have to make weight the day of the contest? No because its unhealthy? Well then how about fighting at another weight?
Re: The skeptic in me expected as much.
What a load of bollocks. I knew JCC was never going to weigh in at 160 on the day of the fight.
Re: The skeptic in me expected as much.
Just so I understand correctly, this means JCC can weigh in as high as 176 (10% of 160 + 160) at 10:00 a.m. the day of the fight. However, he can gain anymore weight between 10:00 a.m. and the time of the fight?

That's right. What a cool new rule, right?
