Who was more of a threat to a klitschko? rahman or peter?
Do people really think hasim rahman was more of a threat to the klitschkos than sam peter in the 00's? I tend to think rahman gets a tad overrated because of the lewis win....
Peter beat toney twice, rahman failed twice.
Peter beat maskaev, rahman failed twice.
peter kayoed tauyrus sykes in 2, rahman won a UD over him.
Peter (although outboxed) acquitted himself well in fight #1 (minus the rabbit punches lol) rahman was embarrassed by wlad.
peter in the 00's beat james toney (twice), jeremy williams, oleg maskaev, Yanqui Díaz and jameel mcline (who holds dominating wins over shannon briggs and michael grant) however peter was getting battered early on in that fight! He also lost to eddie chambers.
Rahman in the 00's lost to ruiz, holy, beat sanders (after being floored and out on his feet) won a UD over monte barrett and drew with tua!!
Peter was recently brutalised by helenius after two devastating ko's at the Hands of the klitschkos, rahman was scheduled to fight povetkin after winning 5 straight fights. Peter has subsequently faded and rahman is basically a good journeyman at this point...

None or them should even come close to be considered a threat.

Next up, who is a greater threat to Spain's football dominance. Bhutan, or Micronesia?

When was this photo taken? Did they spar prior to fighting in 2005?
Re: Who was more of a threat to a klitschko? rahman or peter?
They peaked at different times, Peter is younger than Rahman so it's a bit pointless to compare how they did in recent years. In his day Rahman was at the least very heavy handed and had a better chance of stopping Wlad than Peter ever did, having better timing and a jab. If you're talking about Wlad today, with the experience to clinch and pace himself, then only Rahman would've had a punchers chance between the two imo.

Precisely. Also lets not forget Rahman completely outboxed David Tua, even as a big fat fatty.

Hasim Rahman beat a prime Corrie Sanders, who destroyed Wladimir Klitschko. So i'd say him for also good performances vs Tua, Lewis.

I am aware of rahman beating sanders, Hasim rahman destroyed prime lewis too! Did you watch the sanders fight? It was a slugfest in which sanders put rahman down twice, a rematch could just have likely panned out the opposite way.
However peter never fought either of those two, common opponents alone tell me peter was a more dangerous fighter... and chris byrd is better than all 3 of em, sanders, peter and the rock, With wins over holy (who had just stopped rahman) a masterpiece in defensive fighting over prime tua and a draw with golota! Thus the crappy era nonsense must stop.....peter and byrd alone held 3 belts, and both on there best day would do well in any era.
I do think rahman edged the tua fight though (the draw one) however he was smashed in the first. It's swings & roundabouts, an argument can be made that tua was also hosed out of a win (or at least a draw) vs ike too!

Tua was 245½ lbs also.
For chris byrd tua was 233lbs, for ike he was 226lbs and for the 1st rahman fight he was 224½ lbs, so tua was hardly in the best shape for rahman II was he?
There 1st fight was a better guage. And also factor in that tua destroyed maskaev and ruiz who both beat the rock.
Re: Who was more of a threat to a klitschko? rahman or peter?
Sam Peter was a threat the first time he fought Wladimir because Wlad was at the lowest in his career when it came to confidence and Sam Peter did do damage, but Wlad earned his stripes that night, he fought through adversity and did very well. That was a baptism of fire and Wlad walked out of that ring a better more confident fighter and hasn't looked back since.
Rahman was older and wasn't in shape and all he ever had was his right cross and he never found an openning for it.
The rematch vs Peter was just a simple fight, Wlad dominated the match he took the fight to Peter who just got hammered into the canvas.

Sam Peter was a colossal disappointment. He clearly lost to James Toney in the first bout, then came back as a much smarter fighter in the rematch and legit won that one.
And yes he and Maskaev had a disgraceful bout that resembled two drunks fighting outside a bar, and Peter ended up getting the better of it.
Peter's outing against Jameel McCline was also less than stellar.
Re: Who was more of a threat to a klitschko? rahman or peter?
At times I think the worse thing that happened to Peter was crushing Williams. Williams had a chin made of Legos. I mean wet blanket Akinwande even sparked him cold. He got fat and drunk on his power but did in fact take Wlad to the brink. Hypothetical gets lost as, he did it...Rahman was a XXXL ghost when they fought. I did like Peters hand speed. That said...Peter didn't beat Toney in first and if Yanqui Diaz name needs to come into it...well yeh :-X
