"Boxing" vs "Non-boxing" boards
With the Olympics being over... and there being a lull between big fights... I've succumbed to the same boredom as others, and have begun paying attention to some interesting stats.
The most popular board is, and has always been, "Boxing Talk" of course. But the distance between that board and the non-boxing boards I believe has narrowed over time. I have no stats from the past, but I remember "Boxing Talk" threads and posts outnumbering those of "Off Topic" and "Let's Get It On" by about 4 to 1, or something of that nature. But the gap has closed. Currently "Boxing Talk" has about 34 thousand threads and 703 thousand posts. If you add the two non-boxing boards together, they have roughly 14.6 thousand threads, and 282 thousand posts. So "Boxing Talk" has basically 2.3 times the number of threads, and about 2.5 the number of posts. In other words, the non-boxing boards are catching up. What does this say? Probably nothing... except that maybe the forum has become more of a social forum and less of a boxing one.
Granted... there are many noteworthy threads in the non-boxing boards. Stuff on the Olympics... the elections... politics... sex (always a good one)... important issues like gun control.... etc, etc.
But.... there's also a lot of threads such as:
"Well... today I scratched my ass."
Or.... "What do you like on your salad: pickles or cucumbers?"
Of course... there are the typical battle-related threads, such as: "Who's better p4p: the Michelin man, or the Pillsbury dough boy?"
Oh well... whatever keeps the forum going between fights, I guess. I myself have participated and even started numerous threads that have absolutely zilch to do with boxing. After a while it just becomes a cyber-neighborhood where us saddo'ers come to chat.
But that reminds me:
Who would win a fight between the Statue of Liberty, and the Motherland Statue in Russia?

What brings people here is the love of boxing but some people have been here for over 10 years like Mark TKO, Andre, Lyle and other people less than that but still for many many years.
So naturally people coming here for that long will make really stronge bonds with each other than anywhere else on the internet. So it becomes a place to catch up with old friends rather than a boxing forum.
added to that there are also members who fall out of love of the sport but just enjoy chatting here ;)
hence the rise of the OFF TOPICS ;)

Love of boxing is what brought me here, as well... a little over 7 years ago. Like some of the others, I tried some of the other forums... but quickly tired of seeing the constant barrage of non-sensical garbage being tossed back and forth. So I've stayed on... and have enjoyed my time inmensely. I don't have the camaraderie that some of you British folks have... mainly because I live in Puerto Rico, and I probably know of one other person here who lives in P.R. also. But over the years you do develop kind of a "bond", if you will, with some people... whereas others not so much. Just like a regular "neighborhood."

But thanks for having such a fun boxing forum where we all enjoy chatting once in awhile.

I dont post a lot in the boxing talk or trainer any more. read though some of the boxing threads and think about a reply but then my mind hasnt changed for years on those topics so Id just be repeating, showing my age and sad state of mind.

The Boxing allows any Tom, Dick and newbie post. :rolleyes:
Where as the off topic and hidden sections are for a different class of people. :cool:

LOL I thought the same thing, way too much time on your hands do something constructive in your life and watch porn. I asked Saddo for a porn board but was declined.

I used to be post on the main board, and most of the folks were gentlemen then, wacko, brazillian bomber, cutmemick, even the younger ones like icecold and the most popular guy el gamo, to name a few. Me and icey and el game rooted for rival boxers but we were still able to maintain good friendship. But kids nowadays are too 'exuberant' and an old foggy like me just can't keep up with them anymore. And my name draws many haters so I decided to withdraw here into the non-boxing board where it has a more relaxed atmosphere. I just want to advice some young folks a bit that that their boxing idols aren't worth all the hatred. Those boxer don't give a dang about what you loyal fans feel. They just fight who they want, when they want and enjoy their sometimes undeserved millions all by themselves. Better reserve your hatred elsewhere where it is more deserving - like people who ran off with your gals, or boys as the case may be.;D
But credit to this site, the 'off' boards here are one of the best and most active than most sites I've visited. A good lounging area when you want a little chat. Cheers!;)
