Sponsors for professionals?
One of my mates has turned pro this week, Lee Crossland. He is looking to be sponsored. Does anybody know how this can be done?? Hes hopefully fighting on the Brian Rose undercard in 6 weeks and is looking for sponsorship. Hes trying to get it sorted but if anybody has any advice for him I will pass it on to him. Not too sure how this works.
Re: Sponsors for professionals?
How much does he need to be sponsored? What will it cover?
He needs to go to companies local to the area where the fight will be so they can see the benefit of the exposure. He also needs to promise that he will thank them andgive them a plug on the michrophone after the bout, as I have sponsored a bout before and got fuck all for it and in future ill be holding money back until after the show.
Re: Sponsors for professionals?
im going to speak to him tomorrow about it, getting my gum shield made by him tomorrow so will find out more about what he needs.
Re: Sponsors for professionals?
Supplement companies can usually sponsor athletes - In my experience though, do NOT send email. I have been sending emails to a lot of companies since my fitness show and getting the same "copy and paste" responses stating that they have run out of budget for the year. Sometimes it's so quick I think there is no way they have read everything that I have said I can offer them in my email!
Also, when I see who some of these companies sponsor, it winds me up because they are not in as good shape as I am and have less to offer (I have a fair social following for being practically an unknown) - These athletes either know somebody or are doing something I'm not.
Larry had eventual success getting sponsored by making phonecalls and speaking to the person who deals with sponsorships directly. Most companies didn't want to offer financial sponsorship but free supplements. Even if this is the case, you could sell the supplements on Ebay (which I imagine you're not supposed to do) and get yourself a healthy income indirectly.
Maybe one avenue to look into
