Dawson vs Ward on HBO - Saturday night fight thread
:action: A good weekend of boxing, i'll try watching a bit of Ward vs. Dawson, but there's a 99% chance that Ward will turn it into a stinker. :beat:
The undercard fight however, DeMarco vs. John Molina which will come on first should be a good one.
Sept. 8
At Oakland, Calif. (HBO): Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson, 12 rounds, for Ward's WBC/WBA super middleweight title; Antonio DeMarco vs. John Molina, 12 rounds, for DeMarco's WBC lightweight title.
And on a tape delay here in the States:
At Moscow (HBO): Vitali Klitschko vs. Manuel Charr, 12 rounds, for Klitschko's WBC heavyweight title.
I'd love to see Dawson fight up to his size and potential, and knock SOG into next week, but Ward will likely win a boring, controversial, foulfest SD in his hometown of Oakland.
DeMarco will KO Molina within 8 rounds.
Vitali will stop Charr in one of the later rounds.

Thanks Master, but Fed Holidays that fall on a weekday are just a nuisance for me. (the banks, post office, and other public service offices are closed). Independence Day (July 4th) this year fell on a Wednesday, and fucked up my schedule for the week.
As for Dropanute, yeah but he asked so nicely, how can I refuse a favor. ;)

I will be at ringside for this one -- I'm planning to get there in time to see the last non-televised undercard fight, just for the spectacle of seeing a couple of HWs duke it out 15 yards away from me.

I like this card! Ward strikes me as a guy with much more self awareness and confidence and while BOTH can stink the arena out previously, I got Ward over 12. Demarco and Molina will be a solid scrap and looking for Demarco to finally get some overdue respect as a calculating sharpshooter. Vitali vs Charr..to be honest I haven't payed this one a second nor initial thought.

Ward for the win all day long! Dawson has advantages that he neve has & never will use and that is why he will remain a so-so fighter stuck between having titles and challenging for them. Dawson has height & reach but he'll fight on the inside because he always does, he'll use only one arm because that's how he works....Dawson had potential but he's been disappointing to me although he has had a successul career.

I think because Dawson has the height and reach, it will force Ward to take the initiative and therefore make a good fight.
