Calzaghe vs Jones Jr or Mayweather v Mosley?
Better win? Personally I'm leaning toward's the Jones fight!
Calzaghe was probably the most 'SHOT' fighter operating at world level for decades! What he achieved was nothing short of miraculous considering that he was suffering from acute brittle bone disease in both hands! (A boxer with fragile hands! Go figure! Amazing! Most ppl would happily sit at home and claim Disability Benefit!! Not the welsh wizard...Oh no! He had work to do!)
The jones fight in the garden was simply an elite display of almost god-like boxing ability. A masterclass that should be hanging in the god damn louvre! Sorry but I'm getting a raging boner just thinking about it...
Roy had now adapted his body back to 175 and was probably fighting 'clean' at this stage in his career having easily dismantled El chevito Trinidad (Who had destroyed Mayorga and William Joppy as he cruised through the weight divisions!) The fight was only Calzaghe's second at the weight and he travelled to america despite the likes of Hopkins, Lewis, Tarver, and Johnson all predicting that Jones would beat him. (Yes they actually did!)
What made the performance even more amazing was that Calzaghe recovered from a brutal (Ramon Dekkers-esque!) illegal forearm in the 1st round only to get up and completely bamboozle Jones with superb lateral movement and delicious 4 and 5 piece combinations throughout.
Roy then went on to produce a clinical exhibition V Jeff Lacy and then gave his own virtuoso masterclass versus Glen Johnson conqueror Omar Sheika proving that he still had plenty left in the tank. Also note that Jones frustrated and stole 5 rounds off of Linear champ hopkins and gave more than a decent showing vs James Toney conqueror Denise Lebedev (The fight was heading for at least a majority decision loss at the beginning of the 10th!) Lebby was injured vs Marco Huck too and still most ppl thought he was jobbed!
Mosley on the other hand went life and death with "The Latin Snake" Sergio Mora after his fight with Floyd and got a draw. He basically ran from Manny for 12 rounds and then got got destroyed by Canelo.
Respect must be given because after the corrupt officiating in the Hopkins fight, you could have forgiven Calzaghe for demanding the fight in Wales! And even when it looked like he was gunna get screwed again with jones trying to use his forearms as weapons the choir boy from the valley's soldiered on! Electric! The Roy Jones that Joe Calzaghe beat would of beat most light heavyweights today, including Chad Dawson! U know it! And u know it was equally as good a win as even the Lewis v Tyson victory! Am i wrong?
I think the very fact that Roy was making superb 'RAP' music and Mosley was struggling with the basic fundamental's of speech at that point in there respective careers HL's my point too! Y'all musta forgot!

What does that have to so with the sentence I quoted? If anything it shows how good Joe was to have wrecked his hands around the time of Shieka and still beat the lot and retire undefeated and breaking the title defense record along the way. I don't put much stock into either fight tbh as both Joe and Floyd fought two men that were long past it.

I like Calzaghe but if I remember right he even said in his book that he wouldn't fight Jones because of his age i think?
Why didn't he go over sooner to tackle elite opposition.
Watching the Lacy fight was great, he might have been over rated with hindsight but that's not fair. Everyone thought he was a monster but Calzaghe humiliated him, Lacy showed a big heart but nothing else. Lacy was ruined after that night, a bit like Vargas post Trinidad except Vargas I feel kept it together for the DLH fight but then got lazy. Never really looked in good shape again.
Will give Calzaghe big respect for the Kessler win, Kessler is still amongst the best in the division now.
