Cant believe my luck at the moment,1st thing is the boiler has packed up when i got home from work,
Plumber says its old and we need a new one,Holy fuck when he told me how much i nearly fainted,
£1400 that includes labour he said :rolleyes:no shit Sherlock.and this is no word of a lie,
10 min later the Missus calls me in a hysterical state,to tell me she has crashed the car.:eek:.
she was fine ,but the car a right off.And Christmas round the corner im having serious
open wallet surgery.:eek:
Had the same thing last week mate. Spent £2200 on ours as was more than just boiler that was fucked. Great time of year to have a bill like that :-(Quote:

How's car insurance work over there? The "open wallet surgery" should be covered by HHS right :D
If you have a very old boiler you can get good deals from gas companies. Get a combi boiler also you might as well put proper radiators with double the heat. Saves you money in the long run.
Insurance will pay for the new car you will need.

What is it with boilers in the UK. It seems to be very common for boilers to break or else implode completely. It even happened to my Mum just a couple of years ago and so expensive.

Ive never tried but can you get them on ebay or at factory sales somewhere and store it until required?
They are the sort of thing that you have to buy and they know it so theres no discount if you are in the fix already. Just a thought, buy off season.
