Quite surprised about this one really, I dont think JMM has ever been in trouble before and doesnt seem the type to cheat. JMM said he would welcome testing, maybe Roach was just surprised that JMM performed so well and is looking for excuses.
Funny and sad at the same time that Roach would be accusing Marquez of steroid use when, as he said, Pac has been accused of the same thing many times before. I would be surprised to learn that Marquez is roiding, 'cause he's one of those few fighters today that I think are above that. But you never know. Knowing Roach, it's probably just part of his head games before a big fight. He's probably looking for either an edge... or an out, should JMM win convincingly. But what really irks me is Top Rank's refusal to do random testing. As far as I'm concerned, random testing should be mandatory at each and every major fight. Especially given the rampant roid use lately. What's to think about?
Yes i agree that doesnt really make sense at all and if both fighters said they would do it why not do it anyway? It puts both camps minds at rest and stops bullshit accusations like this IMO. Especially for a fight thats for the champion of the decade belt, if it was that important they would have the testing (I know the champion of the decade belt is BS though). Either way, a fighter whos so highly regarded as Pacquiao it should happen, its better for the image of the sport.
The irony is almost palatable.
Funny how Roach wanted testing but Pac's promotor said no. I don't think JMM is on any PEDs but all fighters should be tested. Everybody thought Floyd was stupid when he said we need to clean up the sport. It looks like he may be right, all major fights should be random tested.

Any athlete now that is doing something remarkable I have a hard time believing. Look at Hopkins. We all just think thats clean living but we are too naive to even entertain the thought that a man of 47 can be a world champion amd have continuous succuess up to that point too.
Other fighters that a cynic like myself thinks is blatantly obvious of taking something just because they moved up and still look ripped, Adamek, Haye, Martinez, Green and there will deffinitly be a shit load of heavies doing it. The Klitschkos, seeing as one has already been found out as a cheater.
I wouldnt be surprised if anybody was found to be cheating now and I agree, test everyone. Its only fair.
I also agree that Marquez has come up in weight and still looks very strong but he doesnt look half the body builder that Manny does.
Even if their not intentionally taking any kind of PED, such as anabolic steroids, there's no doubt they're taking supplements that may be legal to obtain but appear on the banned substances list.Quote:

Yeah, it's all down to hard work in the gym. I think all of these guys are juicing. The only elite fighter I don't think is juicing is Donaire. He's the only guy who does year-round random testing. Nobody else agrees to that, the random testing done in fights like Floyd-Mosley only started a couple of months before fight night. A lot of the new substances are out of the body after 24 hours.
What's Donaire's main gripe about his career? He can't manage to put a few pounds of muscle on his frame and move up the weights. Then you see guys like Marquez who were able to make 130 at the age of 35 who look like a completely different person four years later. Go figure.
