What if pacman was not the aggressor?
In all the years ive seen pac fight marquez he is usually the aggressor and marquez the counterpuncher.
I wonder what would have happened if manny wasnt as eager and perhaps sat back a bit.
I know thats his style and he cant change it overnight but i wonder what he could have done to change last nights outcome?
Marquez might be stronger and that would have helped his punching power but i believe the counter he threw to ko manny might not have been a pure power punch but it was the perfect timing and reflexes and surprise that got manny.
So what im asking is if manny wasnt the aggressor would that have lead marquez to take the lead more? Or would there be no punches thrown throughout the whole match due to marquez reluctance from mannys left hand...
Re: What if pacman was not the aggressor?
Pacman was too aggressive and wanted to finish the round strong but got careless. Pac Man was starting to get on top but made a bad mistake by leaving himself so open.
Pac Man is normally the aggressor and JMM always counters.
Re: What if pacman was not the aggressor?
It would have been boring as fuck like Floyd-Marquez instead of a bunch of fights that will go down in history as classics.

Not sure he could have done anything. No plan B. Had he backed off he would not be Manny and would have little or no chance of simply out boxing Marquez. Catch 22, He had to fight him the way he fought him and Marquez had 36 previous rounds to go on and knew how the right hand was key as it is against all southpaws. He executed perfectly. It just all came together like a cause and effect equation.

That is very true. I remember seeing Manny years ago and thinking he could be timed with a right hand; when he fought Marquez the first time, I thought that Marquez would be the guy to time him. Well, he did, but it must have been a hard thing to do because it took him 42 rounds to do it.
If Manny didn't lead, Marquez would have pressed him, feinting all the way until he made Pac punch going backwards and he would have taken him apart.

Fenster,
Some like to see boxing clinics like floyd marquez..but you are correct that this particular fight was a classic.
I love watching Floyd fight. But he's so technically brilliant he doesn't make for great contests.
Pac is always in entertaining fights, even the ones he wins easily, or gets beat in.

I agree totally.
Re: What if pacman was not the aggressor?
Manny was winning the fight. He was busting marquez up in five and six. He could have fought the same way without leaping in with his chin hanging out like he did for the KTFO. He'll be thinking that he could win episode five by doing the same thing again just minus the kamikaze stuff.

Then he wouldnt be Pac.
Re: What if pacman was not the aggressor?
Shit happens in boxing. Manny has gone into super aggressive kill mode tons of times before and it's worked out great for him. He walked into a perfect punch, plain and simple. Could have happened to anyone.
I hope we won't get people slagging Manny for being over aggressive. He's been over aggressive since day one, and it's made a super star out of him. He got caught with a perfect shot.
Re: What if pacman was not the aggressor?
Do you remember when many people claimed that Manny was choosing an easy foe for the third Pacquiao-Marquez fight?
