Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
This sounds great and I like both guys a lot, Ouma got SCREWED against Vanes Martiyosan or however ya spell it.
Anyway I'll root for Mayorga as always IF this comes off.
In the past year or so I've seen Mayorga vs. Rubio, Mayorga vs. K9, Mayorga vs. Alvarez.
Obviously the Alvarez fight was a long shot, but point is None of them came to fruition.
Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
Seems like one that should have happened 5,6 years ago if not sooner. Hasn't Mayorgas schtick worn a bit thin yet?
Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
Mayorga was brilliant to watch back in his day but he's well past it now. He'll be dangerous for a few rounds and then fall apart. I'd like to see him fight Judah at catchweight and see them try and blast each other out early and if they don't see who disintegrates first. It'd be more interesting than Judah Garcia.
Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
Mayorga needs to stay retired. Don King must have robbed him for him to think of fighting again.
I love Ouma but he is shot to pieces at the world level but probably needs to earn a living.

Don King and Nicaraguan President/Dictator Daniel Ortega who Mayorga must give part of every purse to. But, thats the price you pay to get out of serving time for rape...:-\

Well if Mayorga can win an IBF title I'm sure you'll see him fight Zab, since Zab is the IBF's mandatory 2 or 3 times a year.
Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
Except Judah is fighting about 15 pounds below MAyorga these days, I agree that would've been a great matchup years ago. So would this fight have actually, might still end up being fun if it comes off. I haven't seen Ouma at all recently but he was looking more shopworn than Mayorga a few years back, this should purely come down to who has more in the tank.

Like it matters. The IBF love Zab. Did you know he was Peterson's mandatory before taking the Garcia fight? I'm sure he was Darchinyan's mandatory back when he was IBF champ.

Mayorga would always have ripped right through Judah, even now. Judah is a knockout waiting to happen all the time.
Re: Mayorga v Ouma Feb 2013
Didn't Ouma have the shortest prime ever?
I remember when people were raving about him then like over night, BAM! loss after loss.

Yes he was very good for that short period and beat some good fighters.

Since Judah has never actually been knocked out clean I don't exactly agree, but I think Mayorga would've gotten to him by the mid rounds and probably gotten a late stoppage. Still, the caveman would've been target practice for Zab the first few rounds and it would've been a great watch. Mayorga couldn't rip through Cory Spinks by any means, it's possible Judah wouldve taken a decision on his best night.

No, he just beat Spinks decisively and got robbed.
I like Judah and Mayorga and it would have been an entertaining fight, probably like you say. They trained and sparred together and Judah even praised Mayorga's power on ESPN FNF when he was an in studio guest.
Judah is just too small for Mayorga, or was.
I'm surprised people are thinking Ouma is more shot than Mayorga, but maybe so. Karmazin had his number, but in turn Ouma had Verno Phillips number and did go the distance with Jermain Taylor while taking some helacious shots. He has a good chin.
