Timothy Bradley vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, March 16th, HBO, Carson, CA.
Bradley, Gamboa in discussions - Dan Rafael Blog - ESPN
I'm stunned, but this is apparently a serious possibility. I think Gamboa taking a fight with Bradley is an attempt to prove he is a viable candidate for a future Mayweather opponent.
Article also claims Bradley is still a contender as a Mayweather opponent and Top Rank would take a 7 figure step aside fee to stay out of the promotion.

Well regardless of what one would think of little holyfield, he is a fine boxer and Gamboa is just too tiny for him. I have no idea why...sigh fuck it.

Well shart?! Dumb fight to me. Sounds like Gamboa trying to take a short cut...vs a jr welt/welterweight and I question his dedication. I think he loses. Bradley is alot of things and has the fan charisma of warm milk, but he's solid and very sharp with his hands.

I respectfully disagree that Gamboa is to tiny. Bradley is not even a big jr. welter and Gamboa can easily campaign there.A classic match-up. The fundamentally sound lunch pailer vs the flashy primadona. Both of these fighters need to do something. I was hoping that we might see a Gamboa/Broner match but given the relationship between Gbp and Arum that has about as much chance of happening as me waking up to plus temperatures tomorrow.
Lol@Arum offering to take 7 figures in order to step aside for a Floyd promotion with Bradley. Arum would have been a snake oil salesman in the mid 1800's.

There's not much difference height wise. But there is in mass. Bradley is noticebly bigger.

I think it's negligible at fight time.

Regardless of whether these two want to fight, it will never happen like this. Gamboa is stuck in no mans land right now and is hardly relevant. He can hardly crack an egg and he looked so rusty against Farenas. He stands a strong chance to build himself up again against limited opposition, but when he fights a guy with a punch he will get put to sleep anywhere north of 140. He gets decked by guys at 126 & 130 as it is. Now that he is struggling with the weight he is trying to parlay this into a big match. If 50ยข pulls off a mega fight before December for gamboa, I will praise the promoter & not the fighter.
I'd take any top 4 JWW or WW over Gamboa

Re: Timothy Bradley vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, March 16th, HBO, Carson, CA.
Gamboa is supremely talented, but with his inactivity he is looking at becoming the next Joan Guzman in boxing. An underachiever who didn't fight often enough and jumped too many weight classes.
I want Gamboa to resolve his promotional issues and succeed. He's awesome to watch when he's not losing focus and getting knocked down.

I like it. Bradley by decision.

Re: Timothy Bradley vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, March 16th, HBO, Carson, CA.
He struggled at 130 last time out and now he's going to fight at 147? 50 Cent isn't doing a very good job of this boxing promotion thing is he? Top Rank get to sell Gamboa to 50 Cent and then get to loan him back for anybody they want to match him with, even if he's obviously at a massive disadvantage.
If Gamboa wins he can fight Martinez next.

If Gamboa fights Bradley he will get beaten.
Bradley needs to fight more, period. While Bradley waits for a possible shot at Floyd, money is flowing under the bridge.
I can't figure out what Brafley is thinking, maybe he thinks his body can't stand up to more than one fight a year.

Re: Timothy Bradley vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, March 16th, HBO, Carson, CA.
Sounds like 50 has an agenda to go straight at mayweather and gamboas being used to pull the chariot. 50's been on the sidelines and figured using a weight drain to cripple an opponent to the point where gamboas buzzing circles around bradley. Wont happen though... even a drained bradley throws, misses and follows with the head... and then leans on gamboa and walks him around the ring. It will be a sloppy fight with everyone feeling unfulfilled and will only serve purpose it Gamboa stays in the spotlight long enough after to catch something big after it... which wont be likely for a guy fighting above his weight, battling inactivity, after a stinker of a fight with a smotherer... The scales are already tipped against Gamboa.. in more ways than one.

Re: Timothy Bradley vs. Yuriorkis Gamboa, March 16th, HBO, Carson, CA.
This fight has come out of the blue and will be interesting. Like both fighters but neither have a massive fan base so have to innovate to get interest and this does that. Hope Gamboa wins but it may be better for him to lose as he is not a welterweight.

But see here's a thing. Gamboa vs Broner would be intriguing. Bradley is cagey and is in your kitchen and good lord Gamboa has no defense asides his legs. Stylistically its like a ballerina fighting a facehugger from Alien

I just want to see Broner knock him out. Arums in a tight spot. His tits are drying up. As @Master points out neither Timmy or Gamboa can draw worms to a compost pile. Gamboa should have been a star by now even with his lack of D. Arums in house party is running out of players. It speaks volumes to me that Arum would even publicly state that he would take 7 figures to step away from the promotion for a Floyd/Bradley fight. Like a chance exists lol.
