I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
Son of a bitch !
Alistair Overeem lost to Antonio "Lop Dick" Silva. I was afraid Reem might be looking past Sliva, who is a formidable foe. But, other than some minor concerns I was pretty confident he would dominate the fight. Unfortunately, he got KO'd. I figured Reem wouldn't top Cain's performance against Silva, but I never suspected he'd get knocked out.
He needs to eat more horse meat.
Reem will be back.

No, I heard it from my brother who went to watch the fights and is also a big Reem fan. I still haven't seen the fight myself as I stayed home to watch boxing on DVR with my Dad. ;D
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
Just seen the KO on the UFC post fight show. He got pounded against he cage and knocked out. Then Herb Dean had to hold back a pissed off mongoloid from yelling his jibberish at a fallen Reem.
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
The KO looked a lot like Ray Mercer/Morrison in that he was out on his feet against the cage just taking bomb after bomb.
Frankly I thought he looked like shit overall. He didn't show any indication of his dynamic striking skills, and kept telegraphing that switch knee to the body he loves.
He was tired in the 3rd after not a whole lot of action, and when he got hurt he had absolutely NO idea how to protect himself.
I'm actually embarrassed to say I thought he would beat Cain.

Reem looked utterly unprepared. For the first two rounds he was probably doing just enough to win but Silva was doing a good job at smothering Reem. I give Silva credit for taking the fight to Reem in the 3rd and finishing it but it really looked like Alistair thought this was going to be a cakewalk.

I'm sure more honest Cain fans were saying the same thing about their fighter when he came in out of shape and was KO'd inside a minute against JDS.
Reem overlooked Big Foot Silva and also was off the juice so could have looked lackluster due to that as well.
We know Overeem is capable of much more than he showed last night, the explosive Reem will be back.
I say....REMATCH !
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
Well when Cain lost to JDS, it wasn't like he was outclassed, he just got caught with a punch behind the ear from a killer and that was that. It was an embarrassing loss, but it wasn't like he was proven to have a weakness or technical deficiency, he just got caught with a bomb.
Overeem showed some real holes in his game and stamina issues.
Big props to Antonio Silva though, this is the second upset in a row. People were expecting him to get KTFO in his last fight by the huge undefeated 6'7'' HW prospect, but deliver a great KO. Same thing here. Good for Silva playing the spoiler.
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
Overeem didn't take Bigfoot seriously and paid the price In a fight he 'should' have won. Congrats to Bigfoot he went after it in that third round and deserved to get the finish. "I will make you respect me, bro." He was right! ;D
I have no doubt the Reem will be back and he will take all his fights more seriously but for me this show's he has no chance against Cain. Right now besides JDS I don't think there is anyone who can really challenge Cain. I don't think Cormier fights him after Mir he will drop to LHW.

He was clean this time, maybe we just saw the real Reem.
You could tell from the weigh in he was no where near as ripped as he was for the Lesner fight this time round.
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
I don't think he's suddenly clean or the roids had anything to do with it. He had a similarly bad performance against Werdum a year or so prior, where he was overly cautious and ran out of gas (but obviously Werdum doesn't hit like Silva).
Re: I guess the Reem era will have to wait....
He was always flaky at 205 but I thought he would be more consistent at HW
