UFC cuts..

That is some terrible cut's Grispi is the only one with 3 straight loses.

"Former welterweight contender Jon Fitch was among the 16 UFC fighters who were released from the promotion on Tuesday.

UFC president Dana White also confirmed with MMAFighting.com that the following fighters were also let go: Wagner Prado, Mike Russow, Jacob Volkmann, Vladimir Matyushenko, Che Mills, Jay Hieron, Terry Etim, Paul Sass, Jorge Santiago, Mike Stumpf, Simeon Thoresen, C.J. Keith, Motonobu Tezuka, Josh Grispi and Ulysses Gomez."

Pretty shocking that Fitch got the boot. The guy isn't always the most exciting but still a top 10 talents.

Yeah the UFC have started doing there own ranking's and he came up at number 9. How can you cut a top ten guy?

Fitch got a raw deal, especially when you consider the UFC still employs guys like Dan Hardy and Leonard Garcia, who both went on 4 fight losing streaks without getting cut.

Maybe Zuffa were sick of his boring style and were looking for an excuse to cut him.

Dana White had some problems with Fitch previously. Fitch didn't want the UFC to have exclusive lifetime video game rights to his name and likeness so they cut him. Eventually they resigned him. Maybe it was bad blood from then?

Dan Hardy and Leonard Garcia are guy's the UFC know will put on a show which makes them worth the money they pay them because they get it back. Fitch isn't necessarily worth there money but none the less a top ten fighter.

True but the Dana always brags that the UFC is the pinnacle where the best fight the best, and always impliments a certain "standard of quality", where if guys are on a rough skid they get cut and work their way back up. When you keep guys like Hardy and Leonard after 4 losses and cut a guy like Fitch after going 1-2 against TOP level guys, it kind of shatters that illusion.

You're probably right though, more likely a case of the previous bad blood with Fitch/AKA and the fact that he is a boring-ass fighter.

They'll hook up somewhere, maybe with Bellator. The UFC might not want them but that doesn't mean they aren't among the best.

Dana said that Fitch was at the back end of his career and cost them a fortune. He said the UFC has 470 fighters on the roster and thats about 100 too many so expect more cuts soon guys.

Personally I like the UFC's cutting. Sure it sucks for the fighters at the time, but it gives them a chance to hit the smaller shows and build up their confidence and skill set. Some guys just aren't ready for the big show yet, and can benefit from the additional seasoning they'll acquire fighting on smaller shows.

This probably applies for most of the fighters but not Fitch a top ten guy. It's all business I guess.

Yes, the UFC is a business and pays many of its fighters based on drawing power and entertainment value.

Its why they kept and defended Rampage Jackson despite his psycho police chase and constant complaining.

Boxing has been the same way with guys like Zahir Raheem never ever making the paydays of Erik Morales, despite beating him.

However, no one company has a near monopoly in boxing like the UFC does in mma. It sucks to see a lot of these guys get cut from the big show.

Matthew Riddle was cut after testing positive for marijuana again. Riddle vs Fitch anyone?
