Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
It was great to see Wanderlei pull off the upset. I thought he was done years ago, but he's still got some fight left in him. Wins over Cung Lee, Bisping and Stann look pretty damn good.
But, Brockton you know this should go in the mma section:zzwhip:

Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
I feel the ref let him land more then he should have when he hit his back.
Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
i wonder how it is to accept being beat up like that
the guy was hitting him full on when he was on the floor defenceless
im not sure i could accept that after the fight, its one thing losing at boxing and although i have never been knocked out i bet a knockout is hard to take, but to be battered on the floor like that must be difficult to come to terms with

Be nice if he retired of this great win but the chances of that happening are slim. Almost like when he got that surgery done on his face they gave him a new chin! I hope we don't have to wait and see how long it lasts for.
Finish your career in the place that made you a legend!!

Good suggestion, but I'm sure Wanderlei will push his luck like all great fighters seem to do.
I suppose he could fight Henderson again or Shogun.
Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
Silva is already pushing his luck. Silva has taken an incredible amount of head trauma in his career, including some brutal KO losses since his prime ended in 2006.

Hendo would end Wandys career with on right hand. Hope that fight never happens!

Awesome seeing Wanderlei feed off the crowd at the Saitama Super Arena. Story book ending for a retirement.
Couldn't have gone better for Wanderlei.

If Rampage didn't "end Wandy's career" the last time those two fought then I don't think Henderson would end it.
He may well KO him tho. He's done it before, probably would again.

That fight was closer to Wandys prime when he had a better chin. If it happened now he would get seriously hurt.
Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
"Ending someone's career" from a KO is a bit hyperbolic but I have no doubt that Hendo would end it inside of a round.

If hEndo connects, it's just over. Wanderlei has a very solid arsenal of many kind but his jaw is just not great and Hendo power is just... well, amazing.
Re: Silva KO Stann in Tokyo---wow, violent
Even tho Hendo looks like he needs a cane to fight these days, Wanderlei just cannot take his punches.
He couldn't in 2000, he definitely couldn't in 07 **, and no way in hell can he now.
Wanderlei has been getting dropped in his fights since before he was ever laid out cold. Not to mention the Belfort fight.
Once he got put unconscious by Mirko, it was all down hill from there.
If you would have told me that Silva would be getting Koed by Leben in 2011, around 05-06, I would have kicked you out of my house for saying such a ridiculous thing..
