Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
I wasn't sure by the pilot that it would be a funny and as touching as it was. Thought it was at times brilliant. He also writes great parts for women.
There's going to be a second series
Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
yes i was surprised by it. Funny and sad at same time - especially this week with the old girl dying and the husband telling us how they met
The Duran Duran scene was genius and i was in tears watching it - and Pilkington's observation scenes on life always raised a giggle.
Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
It took me a couple of episodes to "get it" which I suppose was simpy me getting to know the characters.
Really enjoyed it though, some really funny moments.
Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
I watched one episode by accident... the drawing on crabs episode.
really made me laugh... might have to do the catchup on them all.
Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
Without Pilkington, I wouldn't bother watching it.
Find it weird and uncomfortable Ricky plays a guy with mental problems.
With most episodes(not watched them all), The empathy based story lines also seems forced.
Real step down from the Office and Extras.

Re: Derek (Ricky Gervais)
I watched the episode the other night when his dad came back and the old girl pegged it. The old girl dying and her blokes commentary was really touching until I noticed the prick had a pony tail, what the fuck was that all about?
