I'd say Spinks, he had a good year '77 knocking people out all over & he never lost, but Charles did, then lost 2 more quite quickly.
Charles was quality and he would beat Leon who was not as seasoned and great as Ezzard. PTS victory.
Gotta go with Ezzard, who was more seasoned and battle tested. Spinks had trouble and lost to a geriatric Muhammad Ali, I say prime Ezzard stops him in the mid rounds.
Leon Spinks is "noteworthy" because Ali threw their first fight knowing he would win the guaranteed rematch because Spinks was a rank amateur. And that was his peak, a rank amateur used by Ali to make history.
Ezzard Charles has to be in any discussion of the greatest P4P fighter of all time; personally I think he is the best. He beat Burley twice. He ko'd Archie Moore twice. He would demolish Spinks, unless he chose to pitch a shutout over the distance.
Pre Baroudi Spinks gets decapitated. Post Baroudi he gets his ears cauliflowered for 45 minutes.
This isn't even a contest Leon Spinks beat a faded Ali, who decided to lay on the ropes all night and let Spinks beat him. Spinks career is based off one fight thats it, apart from that what are his other highlights ? a draw with journeyman Scott LeDoux ? and getting massacred by Gerrie Coetzee, Dwight Muhammad Qawi, Larry Holmes.
Ezzard Charles is considered one of the greatest fighters P4P, and in all honesty Spinks doesn't even deserve to be in the same arena as Charles let alone the same ring.
Charles a very special talent and beats leon.
Leon was garbage and beat a sick man in Ali ... after that he faded into his true state
