Zou Shiming vs. Eleazar Valenzuela - Saturday fight/chat thread
:pimp2: On HBO2, from Macau, China! Which lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta across from Hong Kong to the east. The professional debut of the Peoples Republic of China's two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and three-time World Amateur Champion Zou Shiming. Plus, some title fights.
HBO to Broadcast Pro Debut of Zou Shiming
April 6
At Macau (HBO2): Zou Shiming vs. Eleazar Valenzuela, 4 rounds, junior flyweights; Roman "Rocky" Martinez vs. Diego Magdaleno, 12 rounds, for Martinez's WBO junior lightweight title; Brian Viloria vs. Juan Francisco Estrada, 12 rounds, for Viloria's WBA/WBO flyweight title; Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. vs. Yasutako Ishimoto, 10 rounds, junior featherweights.
This card will start @2:00 PM ET/PT Saturday afternoon April 6, on HBO2 here in the States & Canada. Tim Ryan, Larry Merchant and two-time heavyweight champion George Foreman calling the action from ringside at the CotaiArena's Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
Should be a fun afternoon of boxing, and educational, listening to Merchant and Foreman calling fights again together.

Excellent card but Im only looking forward to seeing Viloria in action..
I have a strong feeling that Shiming is going to be a bust as a pro and Arum made the wrong investment..

I'd like to see China get more involved in Pro boxing, it would be great for the sport and pump in some more revenue.
As for Arum, it's probably a minimal investment, Junior flyweights, don't get paid the big bucks, so even if Shiming goes belly up as a Pro, Arum won't be out much.

I'm really looking forward to Viloria Estrada. Watching this live might be tricky for me.

There should be a shitload of live streams available, if you can't find one, check with me Saturday morning.
BTW, this card should start at 6:00 or 7:00 PM Saturday in the UK/Europe.

I meant I'll be sovber when it's on. I can remember the last time I watched a fight sober. I'm not sure I can do it.

That's pretty fucking funny Kirk. I doubt if i'll be drinking Saturday afternoon, that's just too early. If I drink at all it's usually after 5:00 PM, but hey, it's 5:00 PM & happy hour somewhere in the world!

Shiming is getting payed $300,000 for his 4rd pro debut which is unheard of in the lower weight division.. :o
Arum is even saying that there could be a showdown between Viloria and Shiming next year which i dont believe..

$300,000 is a ridiculous amount, plus i've read that Shiming isn't all that good. If i'm not mistaken this might be some kind of PPV event in China, if so, Arum gets a chunk of the proceeds, plus something from HBO. Bob-father is slick as owl shit when it comes to money.
What would be funny as hell would be if Valenzuela kicks Shiming's ass, but just guessing i'd say Valenzuela is a 'can.

Please educate me as I'm unfamiliar. Just how slick is owl shit?

Ha! To be “slicker than owl shit” is to be very slick. The expression is popular throughout the South, but possibly originated in Texas.
There's also:
Slick as a jar full of eels
Slick as deer guts on a doorknob
Slick as grass through a goose
Slick as greased owl shit
Slick as pig snot
Slick enough to slide on barb wire
Slicker than buttered cats shit in a skillet
Slicker than deer guts on a door knob
Slicker than snot on a bald mans head
Slicker than snot on a door knob
Slicker than snot on a glass eye
I hope this helps :o

The HBO2 card doesn't start for 3 more hours or at 2:00 PM ET here in the States, that's when I plan to start watching.

FNF-level ring card girls. Not even going to grade them. The Viloria fight is a cracker. No spoilers from me though.
