Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Jamie McDonnell all ready for Primetime PPV
Saw this a couple of days ago. Wow, I can't see this doing well on PPV when Burns is fighting on Sky Sports at the same time. McDonnell isn't well known enough to be fighting on a PPV channel and your die hard fan is likely going to watch the Burns card instead. Really bad move by Hobson but maybe it was this or nothing.
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
That's definitely gonna be a contender for the lowest ever PPV buys. I bet 95% of people on here don't have a clue who he is.
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
Shame, think he will struggle anyway, but now he will not be seen by anyone doing so. I 'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing but if he pulls off the upset he is gonna be gutted that two men and a sheepdog in Doncaster got to see it.

What a crap channel and who is Jamie?
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
They might not watch him in the UK. But he'll be watched in Mexico. This fight is getting a good amount of hype there. It's gonna be Julio Ceja first championship
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
I agree with bzk that in the uk this seems like such a bad idea.
But I'm not sure if Ceja is very popular in Mexico, if he is then it'll sell fine.
Like if David Haye fought an unknown from Japan, we'd probably buy it.

Put it this way. Ceja is a lot more popular in Mexico than McDonnell is in the UK. Anyway this fight ain't PPV in Mexikco
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
They are charging £10.50 and the promoters says if he loses then he stands to lose quite a substantial amount of money on this investment. He believes it is better to have the fight on home ground than risk it abroad. Lets hope he loses then.
Re: Jamie McDonnell's world title fight picked up by Primetime
I like Jamie, he's an incredibly hard worker in his fights, but I think he'll lose this in a Kevin Mitchell-Michael Katsidis fashion. Ceja looks a decent fighter so I'm not really sure what Hobson is thinking putting a fight on Primetime with the star of his show a virtual unknown to the average fight fan who is likely the underdog going in. Die hard fans would pay, but they're unlikely to pay when Burns (a well known fighter with Sky backing him) is going to be fighting on Sky Sports 1 for no extra fee. It is promotional suicide.

It might not be that easy. McDonnell is tough. With the home crowd behind him, him winning is possible.
