He's possibly WORSE than Merchant! LOLOL...
;D
I swear to God, I was thinking about doing this same thread.
When Jim Gray starts asking his dumb ass questions I start grinding my teeth or yelling at the TV. You are right, he's worse than Merchant or at the same level.
Thanks for giving me the chance to say, "Jim Gray, you are an asshole!"
There's no comparing him to Merchant IMO, he's 100x worse. He's the typical smug, cocky journalist who talks to people like they're stupid and really adds nothing to the equation. Showtime needs to can this bum.
Same with dude who was on Espn with David Haye last night.
I half expected Haye to lunge at him.
You're just now realizing that?
Big unkept one too! Remember when Toney almost made him wet himself? GOT MILK BABY ;D Kostya closed him down too, funny!
At least Merchant threatened Mayweather, that was one of my favorite moments in boxing
Jim is OK, Larry is a relic.
I saw the post title about that douche jim gray, was gonna immediately rep you, but upon opening the thread, said immediately, "Nah, I won't rep this over the disrespect shown to the Great Larry Merchant.":nono:
Actually I spent the 80s and 90s absolutely hating Larry Merchant, and wondering why did they keep this old fool on the air. Over time, he became part of the scenery, one of those unforgettable grand characters of boxing. A few years back, when he was gone for a while, and dumb@$$ bug-eyed kellerman was attempting to fill his shoes, I realized just how much ol' Larry added to the entertainment value of the broadcast. He's like a crazy old drunken uncle. I used to like kellerman on the old espn show. Now I just think he's an annoying idiot, hbo shill. Steve Holdsworth has my vote as the best commentator. And jim gray will always suck.
Kellerman is no Merchant, I'll tell you that. But Kellerman ain't that bad- sure, he doesn't have the voice for it. But, at least he makes sense, some of the time.
;D
In 30 years of listening to Larry Merchant, and I remember his voice before that but was too young to know who was speaking, I never had any problem with him and found his commentaries to be insightful, even if I disagreed with him. He made you think about things you werent seeing at that moment in the fight, gave you a balancing mechanism to maybe reevaluate your own assessment of the fight. I like Merchant.
