Ridiculous Rocky Marciano - Colgate Comedy Hour 1954 with Al Weill
Re: Ridiculous Rocky Marciano - Colgate Comedy Hour 1954 with Al Weill
Rocky always seemed a real nice guy and up for anything to get a laugh.
He hosted like a chat show as well, which I found amusing.

wHAT A NICE GUY HE SEEMS. What happened to people? Could you picture Marciano telling Ezzard Charles he was going to eat his children? Could you picture Rocky shouting at the top of his lungs "I AM THE GREATEST! YOU ARE AN UGLY BEAR! I AM THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!' ALL MUST BOW TO ME!!!" ???? No wonder he hated Ali so much. People in Marciano's time were more respectable and decent and weren't obnoxious braggarts.

Agreed, those times had issues but the people were nicer for it, the world was recovering from WW2 and the respect to your fellow man wasn't demanded, it was given without issue.
Today we know nothing of struggle, and respect to others isn't paramount. I am guilty of it, in my everlasting misanthropy, I just hate others due to the idiots we have running around every city with weapons and dealing drugs etc.

Just saying respectfully that he looks good in the suit and for a ugly boxer his face was not that badly damaged.

Different time, you were on your best behaviour in public and on TV back then and there wasn't so many paparazi following you wherever you go.
Bret Hart (the wrestler) told a story about how Rocky scammed his dad when his dad booked him for an appearance.
I'd say he hated blacks, too, judging by the ferocity in which he layed into them.
