We have had this before, but the average game player is about 30 these days and the best games put most of Hollywood to shame in terms of the storytelling and script and what makes the action scenes fun and interesting is that it is you. I would argue that even a relatively straightforward shooter like Max Payne 3 has more soul and depth than most action films and then a game like The Last of US comes along and you are in an existential wasteland in the world of The Road. It bugs me when people belittle these games as though they are for kids. They are made for adults and should only be played by adults, it is dismissive and wrong to brush them off as being for 12 year olds. This isn't Super Mario on the Wii, this is gaming that is mature, dark and beautiful to look at. There are films for kids and films for adults and this is grown up gaming. Nobody would give a haughty look and say The Godfather was for 12 year olds as though it was a juvenile thing. It's one of the great films and likewise, this appears to have the hallmarks of being a truly landmark game.
