Little Red Lopez vs Art Hafey Bombs Away
Good fight, two guys that can punch good but don't duck so good. The commentary is by Jim Healy, one of the best ever. Right at the start of the first video, he makes a comment about how lopez is unusual for a right hand fighter, in that his big punch is the right hand, not the left hook. That statement shows how boxing has changed since then, I guess, but it was a HUGE influence on me at the time. Really changed the way I saw things, that and henry Copper's book on how to box which I read about the same time.

Re: Little Red Lopez vs Art Hafey Bombs Away
Wow. Never saw this one! Just a tempered calm shellacking. Lopez was a cool customer, there he never really looked to get full extension on sharp shots until last combo and poor Hafey went from the back of his heels to the tips of his toes in one motion a couple times in 5th. Tough guy there. Interesting using Collodion back then as early as 2nd, or did they apply it prior? Wasn't that actually toxic??
Re: Little Red Lopez vs Art Hafey Bombs Away
I think they were applying it before the fight. That was Hafey's last fight. He finished 56-8 or 53-8. He was previously stopped by Alexis Arguello and Ruben Olivares. Not just anybody beat up Art Hafey- he was well thought of during his career.
