GGG vs. Floyd Mayweather at a Catchweight of 157-8? Canelo at 157-8?
I know HBO vs. Showtime. I know Floyd is asking for a catchweight for fighting Canelo, a junior middleweight. I know Floyd doesn't need GGG, but for the sake of a stupid, fantastical thread, who wins a fight between Floyd and GGG at a a catchweight of 157-8.
Also, how about Canelo at a catchweight?

Wouldn't happen with Floyd because as soon as the public wanted it...he'd scream..."Dude is on drugs"!!!...and Golovkin (who's never tested posotive like some other fighters I know)...would be blamed for the fight not coming off. GGG vs. Canelo would be intriguing though.

The only welter champ that could beat middle champ was Sugar Ray and he was Both welter & middleweight champion!
GGG would stop Floyd once he could run him down! Floyd would be sliding from corner to corner at break neck speed! I doubt most fans recognize that GGG has heavy hands and they don't really know what that means! Floyd does and theres no way he fights GGG!!!!
Floyd-5' 6 1/2" 147
GGG-5' 10 1/2" 160lbs
only a great welter can move up to 160 and win, Floyd is not a great welter! His best weight is at 135+ not 147! He doesn't have the power against welter greats from the past, he's to small! Ray

You sir seem to have rare trait called common sense, i don't understand why people are purposing this fight, especially at that weight!! Now to reply to the original post, Floyd doesnt look all that great at 154, and this was against guys that have previously fought at 140, 147. It gets to a point where to much is to much, i know u hate the guy but for christ sake, say he does beat golovkin? would you suggest he fight ward? or klitchko?
Re: GGG vs. Floyd Mayweather at a Catchweight of 157-8? Canelo at 157-8?
Gentlemen, it's not too far off to imagine, although I admitted in the original post that it is a bit fantastical. Golovkin says his dream fight is Floyd Mayweather. Floyd has fought at 154 twice before and is now fighting at 152 in September. If Golovkin can get to 154 safely, it's not to crazy to imagine. Think of this way. Canelo usually rehydrates to 170 come fight night. Ortiz did the same against Mayweather. Golovkin actually comes in to camp at 167 and gets down to 160 without much work. I doubt he's all that much bigger than Canelo. For example, I know that he's sparred with Canelo before. He's not a super middleweight by any means, although he might be able to hang with super middleweights.
I can't recall if Floyd has ever fought at taller fighter, Corrales was 5'10 I think, but Golovkin would be two inches taller than Floyd at 5'10.
By the way, this is a major compliment to Floyd, there is no one at 147 that can compete with him. The only way he can go is up in weight for a competitive fight, which is why he is taking on Canelo next.
Listen, this is a mythical match-up anyway. Is the consensus that it would be a step too far up in weight for Floyd?

I'll say Floyd wins a close decision, maybe even controversial, a fight I've championed for a while is GGG vs Lara, if GGG knocks out Lara I would say GGG but Floyd is almost flawless at this point in his career.
*i'd say ur very right in sayig that...GGG is 30yrs old with over 300 amateur fights... Caneleo is 21 or 22yrs old? the upside on Canelo is ridiculous... I mean, this guy is sooo damn young and I give him a good chance at beating one of the greatest fighters ever... that's impressive.

Golovkin might kill Floyd at that weight. Literally.
Re: GGG vs. Floyd Mayweather at a Catchweight of 157-8? Canelo at 157-8?
Man, no welterweight and probably no junior middle has a chance against Golovkin. The dude is more than power. He's no Abraham who probably very well could be out boxed by a little guy. Golovkin actually has very good technique, knows how to place his punches, cut off the ring, and create punches. Actually much more if you look at the subtle movements in turning his opponent and making them go where he wants them. If he was just power then he could be out boxed by these smaller guys but this dude's very good talent is actually being taken as absent because of his ridiculous power. He can out land most middleweight opponents because he knows how to. He doesn't need to bull rush. Of course his heart and chin haven't been taken deep or tested much but everything else is certified, if you will.
