How do you throw an overhand right?
I am a southpaw so for me it would be an overhand left.
For orthadox obviously its an overhand right.
I get alot of conflicting advice on how to throw it, how is it thrown?
Does the punch come directly downwards so its the opposite of an uppercut? Do you lean over to the side with your torso onlly? Do you rotate your hips horizontally? How far should they spin around all the way?
Or does it come down at 45 degress?
Can it be a long range shot or is it strictly for super close range?
How should a southpaw throw it? (his overhand left)

In my opinion, disclaimer :P
It is a hook type punch, so does not come directly downwards.
It arcs, down and around.
You want to close the distance, step in with lead foot, sort of slip inside as if avoiding the jab(outside for southpaw) and crouch down body over front leg.
Overhand punch comes over and around the guard, additional power generated by bringing the body down.
Movement finishes you will be close to opponent, head near chest.
You can close the distance, but punch is thrown within hooking range, not considered a long distance punch
Is a hook type punch, so does not operated like a inverted uppercut.
You rotate your hips to generate power as in a hook.
For southpaw, you want to be within striking distance, move forward with right foot, so right foot is outside opponents lead foot, move as if slipping outside a jab, bring torso down over your right foot, throw bent left arm in a downward motion to opponents chin. Finish head low near opponents chest.

heres how i throw it
i step left,lean left in one motino, and swing my right arm almost like im gonna throw a right hook but then loop it up, this is all while i bobed left and winging the arm over my shoulder, to land on the chin.

You'll see a few right overhand bombs thrown here. In slow mo in between the rounds the last shot you get to see a practice of whats coming later. This bloke was either tiring or habitual in dropping his left arm and shoulder and turning square on at the wrong time and Monzon takes the initiative and bombs him on out of there.

You'll see a lot of them thrown in this mutherfucker of a battle. But Brewer has his chances when he's throwing them for sure but look at the difference between the venom on them when Eccols throws his they are like bricks being swung on rope. :cool:
