Hello,
I'm in training at the moment for my first bout in October however I have a problem with practicing my parrying in sparring and with a partner. For some reason if when I use my right hand to deflect the punch for force still pushes the right glove into my face I think I could be doing it wrong? could someone give me a tip or two or show me a video?

There is no reason for that to be happening, unless your timing is off. You don't touch the front of the glove, the part that makes contact when a punch lands. You make contact with his wrist area, swat the punch aside (misdirect it, is a better way to say it).
You want to wipe the jab with it. In a wipe motion. Your meeting his hand and knocking it down. You not only turn your hand around to catch it but you also knock it down but with only little movement.
It could also be that you are off balance in your stance so make sure your stance is right.
It also could just be in your timing.

Don't get too carried away with parrying. Definitely add it to your utility belt but also start trying to get the right cross down pat. Clever guys will let you catch the jab a few times then clock you with a hook off it right on the chin. Feinted jabs can start freezing you up as well. Your upright looking to catch something instead of punching and bang your hit with a different shot. Slipping the jab over your left shoulder is nice too because it gives you an opportunity to follow up with a right to the head or body, move under and inside and at the very least your trying to be a moving target.
The advantage of parrying a punch is that is allows you to upset the opponent's balance, by letting the punch come to you and then sliding it off to the side.Quote:
