What are the chances of something shady going down in the Cleverly fight
Will we see another calzaghe-manfredo where the ref jumped in at the first sign of flurry?
I can just hear The British job being planned right now. What's in store for Kovalev?

When Kov comatoses Clev the ref will say it was an elbow. Clev wins by DQ :D
Nah I doubt there will be any dodgy dealings, scorecard will probably be wrong but dont think thats fixed just shit judges getting influenced by crowd.
Re: What are the chances of something shady going down in the Cleverly fight
Cleverly will win with no help from ref or judges, stop making up conspiracy theories. Nathan is the real deal.
Re: What are the chances of something shady going down in the Cleverly fight
Maybe it'll be like Brodie-Chi 1 - when the three foreign Judges, foreign ref and foreign WBC boss Jose Sulaiman all conspired against the Korean fighter by docking the Englishman a point for an accidental head clash that actually cut him.

Whoever the officials are, warren might have made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
If there's anything close to an early stoppage or if the scores look way off, somebody was definitely on the take.
The ref just better not step into the ring with a big bulge in his back pocket. Leave the white envelope in the car

Yeah that's a fair point. When Calzaghe fought Manfredo I'd have spent money bribing the ref and judges too. Even though Calzaghe could have won with a blindfold on and one arm, it's better to be safe than sorry

A million likes.

Hehe. Do you think maybe there is a tendency for certain refs to wave fights off early in general over there though? Obviously it's not a matter of corruption in most cases, just wondering if that's a fair shout. I'm not familiar with many of the regular officials or anything like that.
Re: What are the chances of something shady going down in the Cleverly fight
If Warren is involved you bet, I've never forgotten when he tried fuck Clinton Woods over in the 3rd Glen Johnson fight...
Cold changing room etc etc and the only judge who didn't score it a win for Woods was Mickey Vann (who allowed Hatton to wrestle through 90% of his bouts when he was with Warren and then let Carlos Maussa rip his cuts open with his cuff when he left Warren).
Obviously just wanted Glen Johnson to get the belt, because this was at a time when Calazghe needed an American name with a belt...
I expect the same shit for Cleverly, there's a reason the WBO belt is known as the Warren Boxing Organisation.
Re: What are the chances of something shady going down in the Cleverly fight
Hey it's boxing, put nothing past anyone anywhere I assume the judges are already crooked. We can just hope Cleverly sticks to his getting a ko talk and Kovalev will invite exchange. Do we know the ref?

Definitely the Brit refs are safety first merchants and you get premature stoppages. (I think this stems from the tragedies that happened in Britain in the 90s)

Cheers, wasn't even thinking of that makes a lot of sense. Michael Watson and McLellan of course, any others I'm forgetting?

I agree. I think that's where it comes from. It's the way it is over here now and it has worked both ways. But not saying that Warren hasn't screwed a few.
