to mind he had a purse of 30 thousand pounds, for defending his title not bad money at all then.!
That's not bad money at all, but we have Haye V Fury no title but a reported purse of 5 MILLION
each, is a title worth having I wonder.:o
Being a World Champion is it worth more, than 5 million £ ,! it does make you wonder is a title

Any title is only worth the guy carrying it to us, but for fighters they are a great insurance. Even the most phony trinkets mean you have a stream of income, people want to fight you and you aren't going to get peanuts when you might otherwise. A fight like Haye-Fury is huge because they have some celebrity status, but there are only ever a handful of guys who stand to make that kind of money anyways. Title's on the other hand mean guys we wouldn't have a clue about otherwise, are substantially higher draws than they would be.

Sometimes, but it's pretty rare that you have a really big fight between two guys who aren't at least former champions. My point was that the straps are often the only way to assure guys who would otherwise not generate much interest, can make a decent living, or land fights with established draws.
Doesn't matter how many "world" titles you have you're only worth what you sell. Belts are just bargaining chips.
There was a recent "world" title fight where the promotion was won with a $12,000 bid. The challenger ended up with under $2,000!!!
Haye-Fury are getting millions because they sold 20,000 tickets and will do huge PPV numbers.
