Christopher Lee, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Samuel L. Jackson
Anthony Hopkins wasn't too shabby with his portrayal of Dr Lecter. Both Robert Mitchum in the original and DeNiro in the remake made Max Cady one scary f***er in Cape Fear. Olivier as Dr Christian Szell in Marathon Man. Sir Richard Attenborough as Pinky in Brighton Rock.
Tom Noonan shit the living fuck out of me in Manhunter (first of the Hannibal Leckter novels - Red Dragon). Took about 10 years to get over that. Don't let kids have TV's in their bedroom.
Hopkins has to be the King of them all plays the part for 20 minutes total and gets the Oscar.
Arni in the Terminator and that other guy who did it next time around as the liquid terminator; Robert Patrick.
Back in the day with Dirty Harry and his nemesis 'Scorpio' played by Andy Robinson:
Andy got hate letters and death threats after that!
It just shows how unbalanced and outright stupid some people are. No wonder the films and games these days trigger off those same sorts of emotional cripples but in different more tragic ways.
Arnie in Terminator is a great shout. Again, as a kid in the 80s, I remember these films with horrific memories. Cunt might as well been chasing me

Fucking hilarious how he kicks him after shooting him
They are all great actors and I think to successfully convince people of menace you need your acting chops, the same as portraying any other character. Begsy or Begsby ?, the character Robert Carlisle played I'm Trainspotting was terrifying because he made you believe that he was totally lacking in empathy or compassion he would fuck you up for fun. My old man went to Hollywood in the late 70's and got me and my older brother 2 signed photos. Robert mitchum and James Garner. I knew who Garner was because of the Rockford Files. Now I know who Mitchum is and wish I could find that signed photo. He could act and he WAS Max Cady, that made him scary.
Good picks in here. I never knew the name of the Die hard villain but always thought he was excellent and should have done more so thanks Lyle;D
Kevin Spacey in "Se7en" was pretty epic.

Gary Oldman plays nutters and villains the best.
Edward Norton in American History X
Anthony Perkins in Pyscho
That's a good point. I've known a few Begbie's, Robert Carlisle had them off to a tee in Trainspotting. I remember watching that film with people that found him amusing (probably nervous type giggles) without having any idea of how menacing, unpredictable and ruthless those mental cunts are in real life.
