Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
1. Canelo never belonged in the same ring with Floyd. He was schooled, exposed, humiliated, toyed with, and embarrassed.
2. Cotto gave Floyd a much better fight than Canelo ever did.
3. The judge that called the fight a draw should be suspended, ridiculed, tortured, and shot. Not necessarily in that order.
4. Canelo is the huge Mexican TV hype job everyone thought he was. Hyped up by TV, because of his "boyish good looks", and because they're looking for the next De La Hoya. Even Chavez Sr., who knows a bit about bloated records himself, was quoted as saying that Canelo is a hype job.
5. Butthurt Mexican fans will find all sorts of excuses as to why Canelo lost by such a huge margin. The sad truth is...... he should've never been there in the first place. Great marketing by all involved, including Floyd himself, who must be laughing all the way to the bank.
6. Garcia-Matthysse should've been the main event. It was at least 20 times better and more entertaining than watching Floyd taking Canelito to school.
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
isn't it time you left the Mexican - Puerto Rico thing alone and just judged on boxing alone you fucking idiot.
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
Isn't it time you stuck to being the forum clown and just fucked off.
Isn't it also time you stuck something long, pointy, and prickly up your own ass.
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
Isn't it time for Cotto vs Canelo? :D
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
Scores were bullshit, Canelo one a single round on my card, and pretty much anyone else's
DLH is always gonna tout the challenger as Floyd's toughest fight as long as their signed to GBP
This was Floyd's easiest fight in a while, both Guerrero and Cotto made him work more than Canelo was able to
Canelo should try to pick up the pieces at 154 and look to fight someoone like Molina, Angulo, Kirkland (if he ever re-appears), maybe Cotto, but IMO Lara schools him just as bad and Trout would win the rematch, there are still fights for him to be made and in his defense at least was willing to fight the best while still having other lucrative options available unlike the silver spoon one Chavez Jr, who only finally decided to take on Martinez once he saw that he had faded a bit and had no one else to take on in the division, the fact that he's facing Vera on at 160 in their next fight instead of fighting a decent opponent at 168 shows that he's gonna go back to his cherry picker ways

So is Teddy Atlas who thought Canelo would beat him also.
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
I don't think losing to the greatest fighter of this generation (and one the best fighters of all time) when you're 23 and still learning constitutes being "exposed". Why are we ready to throw Canelo under the bus? He lost to Floyd Mayweather. Everyone Mayweather has ever fought has lost to Floyd Mayweather.
There's a lot of "moving parts" to Floyd's style, it's not as simple as the keyboard tacticians would like to think. It's not a matter of "ohh move forward and throw punches". I think it was unreasonable to expect Canelo to be able to solve that kind of puzzle at this stage in his career.

It was simple enough for a good try: watch Cotto and DLH and build upon it. What Gasnelo do? He started to box...
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
if Canelo wasn't ready after nearly 45 pro fights and nearly 10 yrs as a pro fighter, he never was going to be, despite the fact that he's only 23
people need to stop using that as an excuse, his age was one of his biggest advantages going into the fight so it's ridiculous that people are now trying to make it into a handicap, he also was bigger and 15 lbs heavier, so he had 3 major advantages going into the fight and well he just lost to the better man, IMO he was hyped more than the media but I'm not gonna go down the route of most people and say the kid was "exposed" there are plenty guys he can still fight and beat, and he can still move up and have a credible career, his defense has improved and his poise would help him out up in the higher weights with slower opponents
if he decides to move up to 160 (which IMO he shouldn't yet, there are still fights to be made at 154), he should take on Barker that would be a good fight
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
Floyd will not get beat.
There are no other great fighters around to challenge him.
Re: Things I took away from tonight's fight.....
How the hell are they going to sell his next fight. Unless he starts fighting two people at the same time the usually people who buy the ppv hoping to see floyd lose won't even bother. I think they will really struggle to sell his last 4 fights he looked too good last night.

What about any of Canelo's 45 opponents would even come close to preparing him for a Floyd Mayweather? Floyd has been a world champion and fighting world class guys since '98. 15 years, compared to Canelo's 2 years as a champ. And really, Austin Trout is looked at as the only legit 154lb threat he's fought.
He did all he could. He just didn't have the knowledge on how to crack Floyd, which is nothing to be ashamed of because a lot of great guys have tried and failed.
