Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
Jus seen a interview with Tony said it's time to follow another fighter and move up a weight devison, does this mean we are going to take notice of the much forgotten cruiserweights in the uk, maybe a chance for Ola Afolabi to a fight in England again,
Re: Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
His rationale for this seemed pretty stupid to me. He said in that interview that he doesn't normally feel the shots but he did against Stevenson. That was simply down to the fact that Stevenson was by far the best fighter he's been in with. And if you're feeling the shots from a small 175lber, you'll feel it against Cruisers who rehydrate to Heavyweights and the same will happen again. Tony should stay at 175, build himself up and target Shumanov if he wants to be a World Champion.
Re: Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
Bellew always looks drained at the weight, more so than Cleverly did.

Ola Afolabi is a pretty lazy fighter, I think if you stuck him in a ring with Bellew or Cleverly most of UK wouldn't care too much
Re: Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
Bellew can talk all he wants, he can try to find reasons for the loss, well the simple fact is he is just not good enough to be a world champion.
He doesn't hit hard at LHW at world level , his shots will carry even less power at CW.
Re: Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
I think Tony needs to have a look at what he's doing while he's in the ring. He seems to believe he's top level, but he lets his heart rule his head and loads up with every right hand like he's pissed off at a guy who just shagged his girlfriend in the bathroom at his local pub. Everyone seems to see it coming because he telegraphs it. To me this suggests he didn't learn from the 2 Chilemba fights that you can't do that against a higher class of fighter. I think his WBC ranking had him in denial about how good he really is.
Re: Bellew to follow cleverly up to cruiserweight
Bellew should have tried to get inside. He needed to get off first. Don't see much success for him at cruiserweight

yes I agree I have been surprised Bellew has stayed at 175 for so long
