The Good and Bad about Broner
i will start with the good. he took the fight in the first place when everybody talked about how protected he was. i knew that it was a dangerous fight and give him props for taking it. the other thing is that he showed that he has heart. he was definitely hurt a few times and still finished the fight.
now the bad. i used to try to like broner, but he is just a bad guy. i usually separate an athletes personal life from their sport but when you are such a bad person and then flaunt it, i cant root for you. also, the commentators were saying that maidana needed to make the fight ugly to win it but broner was the one making it ugly and started intentionally fouling maidana at the end of the fight. also, he tried to show boat in the first round when he was easily getting beat. dont showboat unless you are winning. otherwise you look ridiculous. he also kept complaining to the ref about something. probably because he was getting hit too hard.
and the ref was terrible. maidana didnt deserve to get a point taken away at all. it was hardly a headbutt. it was more of a push with the head and broner tried to sell it. if i were the ref i wouldnt have given broner time to recover since he was obviously faking it because he was hurt.
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
All I have to say about Broner is classless piece of shit.
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
Broner makes a rod for his own back, the image the BS Daddy comb my hair crap, he lost
the thing is he is a good fighter, sometimes his behaviour leaves a lot to be desired.
Yes he has talent he was brave also, his bubble has been burst , will he be a better fighter
after this defeat !!!.
Looking at him leaving the ring, he was deflated the cocky arrogant Guy had disappeared
this humbling experience, may just do him some good.!;)
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
Broner has a lot of great tools, and has all the potential to be great. He is a supreme athletic talent with a high skill level. And the guy is DURABLE, and has a ton of heart. Broner is a born fighter. And for all the brutal bodyshots and other punishment he took, he was still relaxed and fresh in the later rounds. Hell, judging by the way Maidana was drained by the 12th, if this was a 15 rounded Broner might have got the stoppage.
Unfortunately for Broner, he seemed to be more of a Zab Judah than a Floyd Mayweather, in that despite all his physical gifts, he's a mental midget and lacks the focus to truly be the #1 guy.
The fight against Paulie should have been a wakeup call that, hey, you can't just sit there and let a guy tee off on you without firing back. Even if you are blocking and rolling with most of the punches, you're still giving away the round.
Why doesn't he realize that Floyd's shell-style defense works because he lets his hands go and counters effectively? That Floyd makes guys timid to throw on him because they know they are going to get tagged with hard counters as soon as they do? If you ain't throwing back, what's to stop guys from just teeing off on you?
Broner is an idiot. I thought Broner would acknowledge Maidana's power (like he did with Ponce) and utilize his boxing skill. You don't let a guy with the power of Maidana tee off on you like that.
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
Not much, and alot...about Broner
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
The good = he lost.
The bad = everything else about him.
Re: The Good and Bad about Broner
He got hit too much and didn't let his hands go enough. He should have stayed at 135 and gained more experience and he should have moved to 140 before 147. Poor management IMO, he's not looked good at 147 and still is young so what was the reason for rushing him? He needs to train harder and stop trying to be floyd because he's far from that and now he will have to learn that the hard way.
