So this fight wont happen unless manny leaves Arum, will it ever happen?
I just cant buy the Arum thing anymore. I just cant. They should test that excuse for Peds?
Floyd is running out of excuses. Arum is Pac's prmoter, deal with it Floyd. It also sounds like Floyd is regurgitating Schafer's stance on not working with Arum. Golden Boy is ruining boxing.
I also don't get how Arum gets blamed for Pac-Mayweather not being made. The Golden Boy people blame him saying he needs to step aside. Sorry Schafer but that's not how things work. Also Schafer and Oscar need to get on the same page.
Floyd doesn't have to deal with it. He's the top boxer in the sport by a wide margin, and Pac no longer has any bargaining power.
Floyd doesn't need Pac. He did over 2 million PPV buys with Canelo. Pac just did 500k buys with Rios. Floyd is making multi-millions and by all accounts Pac is going broke.
Floyd's not the guy who has to jump through hoops to get this done.
Here we go again. Boxing is a BUSINESS. Floyd offered the fight to Pac a while Back...Pac refused because of PED testing. The facts NOW are this: Floyd is on top of the boxing world...Pac by all accounts is struggling mightily financially and no longer at the apex of his career. Add to the mix Arum...this fight is not going to happen on anyone's terms but Mayweather's. That is just the way shit works. Floyd doesn't need Manny...and Floyd isn't going to be goaded into a fight with him over the absurd "legacy" or "ducking" issue.
How is anyone defending Floyd on not taking this match???
When FMJ "offered" to fight PAC and used the PEDS as the reason to pull out. Who was PAC's promoter and Manager. Its the same f'king guys as before. Now, testing is no longer being brought up. Its back to blaming Arum. Arum was there back during the PED argument.
Now FMJ is saying the PAC shouldn't be the #1 Contender and isn't on FMJ's level. Well neither was 95% of his previous 45 opponents.
Yes FMJ does not need PAC... Who cares, if either fighter "need" each other... Boxing and its fans are the only things that really matter in this so called business. The Business is entertainment. And I want to be entertained. Make the f'ing fight already.
Floyd used it as a reason to pull out? Why didn't Manny say "ok, I'll take your test" and shut him up then? Instead we were subjected to lines about how a pro fighter who has been through hell and spilled blood in the ring (and has numerous "prision"-looking tattoos) was AFRAID OF NEEDLES.
When Cotto left Arum the fight was made. And I truly believe Arum most of all is the culprit as to why this fight was not made on top of the whole I'm scared of needles thing and then the temporary stadium that was supposed to house the mega event blah blah blah. Arum is running out of milk and is now trying for the last drop vs Mayweather.
Its very easy to understand.
Bob Arum was Floyd's promoter from 1996-2006.
Bob Arum fucked Floyd over. Bob owes him money. He's admitted he owes him money. He has declared that he will not pay him the money owed.
Floyd wanted a guaranteed $20 million to fight Oscar. Bob would not grant that. So Floyd bought his way out of his contract for $750000 signed to fight Oscar under his own promotional name and made himself $30 million.
Now, if you've been fucked over by a former manager would you ever give them the opportunity to make money off you again?
Floyd said he would fight Pac is he left Arum. Floyd guaranteed Manny that he'd be paid more without Arum than he would with him.
We think with enough money on the table, people can and would and should break bread. But often times money isn't the issue- it's about trust and not wanting to do business with a scunt. Arum is a scunt. Period.
Why didn't he just say this from the beginning.
For starters, it's a well-known fact that fan interest in Floyd-Pac is nowhere as high as it was several years ago. But let's not kid ourselves. Everyone of us would watch if the fight were to happen. But wading through the B.S. and putting things in perspective.... this is the way it should go:
Floyd's claiming he will never do business with Arum. Floyd's job is to fight. He's already got enough money to live 3,000 lifetimes, so money should not be the issue. He'll get his mega-millions for fighting Pac whether it's Arum or Bubbles the chimp doing the promoting. So basically, Floyd needs to STFU.
The biggest obstacle to holding this fight is Richard Schaefer. He's another one who needs to STFU. Criticizing DLH Merry Christmas tweets to Arum is childish, petty, and full of self-interest. It's a well-known fact that Schaefer will do anything to torpedo plans to have this fight. Anything to avoid having Arum benefit from such an event. If that means f*ck the fans, so be it. But who's gonna make Schaefer stick his tongue up his ass? Oscar? Please. The poor guy's got enough problems with his rehab.
So basically, although we as fans shouldn't care whether the fight ever happens or not, the sad fact is we do. We do because we're always there to forgive and forget. Such is our nature. Promoters know this... and take advantage of it. Floyd is sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. By saying he won't do business with Arum, he's basically saying "f*ck the fans", I'll do what I please.
Arum's an old greedy bastard, but IMO is the least guilty of all the parties involved. Floyd and Schaefer need to STFU, and let old Arum and rehab Oscar iron out their differences in peace. Then and only then, might we have a fight we all know should've happened 3-4 years ago..... but will pay big PPV bucks to watch anyway.
Mayweather and Arum have bad blood, and Mayweather won't do business with him. That's Mayweather's right, and honestly I can't fault him. If a guy shortchanged and stole from me, then spent years badmouthing me, calling me a coward, overrated, ect, I wouldn't be too willing to put millions in his bank account.
It's Floyd's show now. Back when this fight mattered, Arum had a lot of bargaining power. Not anymore.
Pac should split with Arum.
