Before there was GGG, there was Victor Oganov
First time I saw this guy he was 26-0 with 26 KO's.
He fought Fulgencio Zuniga on Shobox that night and was stopped.
He later fought Andre Dirrell and was stopped as well.
Ended up at Cruiserweight losing to Brad Pitt of all people lol
Anyone remember this hard punching Russian super middleweight?

I remember. I knew he was just another limited puncher padding up his record against bums and only a matter of time.. he's like tyrone brunson..

You are something Dale....
I bet Chavez Jr would wipe the floor with Oganov.. that's how I think of him.
I think it was against Dirrell when he got his forehead split wide open.. Dirrell being the bad ass Matrix that he is, landed a laser-guided straight left hand that landed on Oganov's forehead and blood starting pouring out instantly..
Anyway, do u like Oganov or something?

No, I just see se similarities between him n GGG. Although Golovkin is far more talented and has already beaten better opposition than Oganov ever did.
Two big Russian power punchers around the same weight class with similar builds.
You think Andre Dirrell would beat GGG?
GGG would get lit up imo.. dirrell is a natural smw and is more proven at the top level. He beat froch in many people's eyes and was on the verge of beating abraham until he got sucker punched..
His performance against froch alone is enough to convinve me that GGG is no match for him..
Re: Before there was GGG, there was Victor Oganov
It looked like someone hit him with a wood axe vs Dirrell. Had Grant not been on career life support I'm sure he would have exploited some of those holes. Reese hit him ugly too. Imagery and padding and inflated numbers...Golovkin is a real coming to complete fighter compared. Totally.
Re: Before there was GGG, there was Victor Oganov
Not that it's relevant but dirrell and ggg fought in the ams if i remember correct and dirrell lost..
It would be totally different now though.
Re: Before there was GGG, there was Victor Oganov
The similarity ends with the country of origin.
Well he's a Kazak but close enough
Re: Before there was GGG, there was Victor Oganov
dirrell rightly so lost to froch, the scores were a lot closer than they ever should have been
i personally think he should have been DQ'd mid way through the fight, after all holding is a foul
he was beating abraham, but again for the outlandish acting at the end he should have been DQ'd not AA

If I'm not mistaken, they were 1-1 in the amateurs, but that was at 168. Dirrell is the naturally bigger man. I'm not sure what's left of Dirrell at this stage. He had his shot at Ward, but bailed. Is he retired? Dirrell seems to have a lot of physical gifts, but problems with the mental game.
