Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
What is it with Bellew. If Cleverley sneezes, Bellew blows his nose! he's forever mentioning his name and trying to make something off it. When he got smashed to pieces by Stevenson, the 1st thing he said was "somebody else has moved up, maybe I'll do that." now he's banging on about Cleverley losing all of his advantages at Cruiserweight. If he is the slightest bit serious about making it work at that weight , he should concentrate on proper Cruiserweights and not keep banging on about a rematch with a blown up Light Heavy who keeps cancelling his comeback anyway. Personally I reckon Cleverley is having some problems mentally and Physically adjusting, but you don't hear him chuntering on about Bellew all the time. He shouldn't be gauging himself against Cleverley because that means nothing at this weight.
It's like a schoolboy having a problem with another kid and still letting his life revolve around it years later when they're all grown up. It's pathetic if you ask me.
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
Hes a typical scouse from what I can make out. Full of himself but he believed it all when he had done absolutely nothing. Keeps banging on about his power but shop worn Edison Miranda who didnt have the best chin at middle took his shots flush on the chin and didnt blink.
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
Yes the nickname Bomber isn't merited , Bellew didn't hit that hard at LHW , I doubt he will hit hard are CW.
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
See this is what makes England and its domestic scene so interesting. You hate each other because someone lives in the next county over or is from Liverpool or London. Its like you are fighting someone from another country. The internal rivalries are much larger then international ones. Its the same thing in Britain as whole like in this case and yet everyone seems to like Calzaghe. I think its great and the best boxing environment on the planet.
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
i doubt he even really hates him
he probly made more out of the clev fight than any other by miles, even if he was world champ at lhw he would probly have to fight a few times before he makes that sort of money again
he knows if the rivally between him and clev stays theres a chance of another big pay day
clev moves up, theres nothing really at light heavy for him that isnt 5x as much work for the same financial gain as the rematch
lets hope one or both of them get somewhere near a world title so we can see a rematch and they can both get the payday they deserve
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
I highly doubt Bellew made more money with Cleverly, in front of one man and a dog on BoxNation, than against Stevenson with the might of HBO backing it.
Cleverly couldn't even fill 3000 seaters in Wales as "world" champ. That's why the Bellew fight happend in Liverpool.
Either way, after they both got exposed against the "elite" a rematch is just about the best option for both.

I nearly started the same thread earlier myself. Bellew seems so bothered by Cleverley and everything he is doing and mentions him in every interview he gives now. I read that interview and he spent the whole time chatting about Cleverley and then his last line was about how he was bothered by anything Cleverley does now. Just ridiculous. He's really bigging himself up to be the best Cruiserweight in the world now and says he won't have to fight anyone as good as Stevenson at the weight, but he's fooling himself if he thinks this will be easy. He's talking like he's going to blow everyone away with his amazing power.

Haha!
Stopping a few british level amateurs is a different game to facing world class pros.
Stevenson has done ok but his chin isnt the best either, he got knocked cold by Boone. Kovalev also got dropped by Boone but not KO'd. I think if those two fight, as soon as Stevenson feels the weight of Kovalevs punches hell back peddle.
Re: Bellew's inferiority complex with Cleverley
The first fight was very good so they should do it again. Cleverly does seem to have issues about getting back in the ring. Bellew just seems a bit mental.

Bellew: Cleverly is a Fraud, Doesn't Want To Be a Boxer! - Boxing News
Bellew isn't bothered at all by Cleverley, honest.
Here's the latest interview and he's saying Cleverely is a fraud who doesn't want to be a boxer who thinks he's better than he is. Alot of big talk for a guy who hasn't won a world title and lost to the apparent fraud. Pathetic.
He also says Adonis Stevenson is p4p the hardest puncher in the world, which is why he lost. Other than that, Tony pretty much bossed that fight didn't he?

yeah he could well have made more out of stevenson
as exposed usually means - turned out to be rubbish - saying they were exposed is harsh, stevenson and kolorev look like very good fighters
stevenson KOed whats-his-face in round 1 a couple of fights before, and battered cloud, I dont think you would say the two of them were exposed?

"Exposed against the elite"
They're both top level fighters but not "elite" level. If they were they wouldn't have both been totally pulverised inside 6 rounds and then dived straight out of the division.

I agree with you. The thing is I feel Cleverley would have given Hopkins a decent fight just because he throws a large number of punches and would win rounds on workrate. I also feel he'd have given Shumanov & Braehmer problems but I think Bellew would have lost to the lot of them just because his every fight gameplan of trying to take his opponents head of with every punch would have been easy to figure out.
