Sergey Kovalev back March 29th, Cedric Agnew the frontrunner as opponent
Stevenson-Kovalev plan in motion - Dan Rafael Blog - ESPN
Fat Dan has mentioned in an article that Kovalev is pencilled in for a March 29th return and undefeated Cedric Agnew is possibly going to be his opponent. Do you think he has anything to trouble Sergey and derail HBO's plans of Kovalev-Stevenson in the fall?

Probably not going to be a problem for Kovalev. I would LOVE to see a Huck/Kovalev or Stevenson fight.

Too many pointless fights in boxing. Kovalev and Stevenson fought on the same card, you were setting up the god damn super fight between them, so just fucking make that fight. God damn boxing promoters drive me nuts.
I hope either Kovalev or Stevenson loses and their big fight goes right up in smoke.

This is an interesting fight.
Cedric Agnew is a quick, athletic, undefeated 26-0 fighter and won't be an easy opponent for Kovalev.

There is nothing wrong with this fight or god forbid an active champion with 4 fight in a year. Kovalev has called out everyone and hears crickets and excuses in return. Clearly Hbo is the deciding factor here and they want a Kovalev v Stevenson to marinade.

From what I understand, assuming Stevenson and Kovalev get by Fonfara and Agnew, they are fighting in Montreal in the fall. Fonfara and Agnew aren't bad opponents for them even if we'd prefer to see them fight each other.

Totally. If I had my way it would be in my living room tomorrow, its a must happen! But I get and am use to seeing a network making fans twist. THEY know they need it and Agnew and Fonfara are decent showcase opponents where both should improve and come to a head. Wouldn't shock me to see Kovalev camped out in Stevensons hotel room by the end of the night. Boxing thrives on underdogs..should one be upended on the way to a "superfight" then so be it, it wasn't that super after all.
