Pascal fight is proper and it would be a good way for kovalev to showcase himself in front of the Canadians.. impress against pascal and on to Stevenson..
Braehmer not so much.. kovalev would walk over him.

The questions always going to be there about Hopkins age though, if he didn't fancy it at 50 he'd be entitled to duck Kovalev and retire I think. I'm still amazed though that Enzo could be one lucky punch away from facing Kovalev though.

Kovalev will probably become the lineal champion even if he loses against Stevenson. Stevenson is old for a fighter, and will have a few big money fights, then retire. Kovalev is still relatively young at 30, and could fight for the vacant belt when Stevenson retires.

According to reports that's what GYM wants also and according to Yvon HBO is pushing hard for it and are involved in early negotiations. He says they want three fights this year starting with Fanfara and ending with Kovalev. Adonis is up in May and Kovalev in March so the calenders do match up barring an injury. I dont believe Yvon Michel means what he says but his hand could actually be forced anyway unless the 168 names start to move up.

Shumenov is now promoted by Golden Boy so even if he wins, unfortunately there will not be a unification fight with Stevenson/Pascal/Kovalev. Stevenson-Fonfara isn't actually a bad fight although Stevenson should win. Same with Kovalev's next fight. I doubt we'll get Pascal against either until Stevenson and Kovalev fight each other., which from what I hear, will happen at the end of 2014. Frankly, it'll be great timing. Both guys in their prime and coming off the best stretches of their careers.

Braehmer won't leave Germany and HBO want Kovalev in America on primetime. Pascal would be a good fight for him but HBO are jonesing to make Kovalev Stevenson asap. Maybe Kovalev fights Pascal in a double header if Stevenson has one more fight before they make the Kovalev fight.

I share that cynical vibe when it comes to unifications as we've seen time and time again the alphabet boys conduct things like a crime syndicate. I like the fact that Kovalev got in front of Hopkins by calling him out in interviews and if Hopkins takes care of Shumenov I have a sliver of hope there, a small sliver. Deep down Hopkins cannot go out not attempting the biggest dog in the yard. This division is interesting, it has life and Kovalev v Stevenson is one to wait for barring some underdog upsetting the plot, but I don't see it.
