There is a reason why its the punch of choice routinely by southpaws. I always thought Marvin would be much higher up the food chain by now. Around the 5:15 mark.

Wicked punch, I don't think I've seen Sonsona at all. Hard to tell much from that clip but it looked like he was in a bit of a fight until the end there?
Yeah he's been playing and toiling in relative obscurity through the Manny and Donaire years and has remained in comparison to most inactive. He's a real talent and with those two fading he may find his way out.
Sure an extraordinary amount of southpaws from the Philippines. They must have a farm or something.
East Asian fighters tend to lead with their strong hand. It's an East Asian thing. While we train right handers to lead with the left, they train right handers to lead with the right- and it appears to have positive results.
I guess if you started off that way and trained that way it wouldn't be a problem to you... it's when you train, as a righty, to be orthodox right off the rip, its only when you try to turn back the other way is when you have problems adjusting.
He surely was not leading with his strong arm, if he was I hate to see him use it. :)
Was definitely waiting/lookin for best time to drop that bomb.
Hellacious shot! I wonder if it feels like when a ball player hits the ball perfevt with the fat of the bat, he knows its gone instantly.
Yea boy :o
That has to be the koty, itll be hard to top that one. Uppercut KOs are always extra special compared to other punches.
I talked about Sonsona not too long ago cuz some posters didnt know him but again, the hype got into his head early in his career after he was being pushed as the next big thing in the PI. He neglected training while partying and womanizing.. he was in the worst condition in the biggest fight of his career against wilfredo vasquez and evrybody knew he didnt stand a chance.. he should have beaten vasquez but he ended up beating himself.
Its good to see him back. Id love to see him up against Fortuna or gradovich..infact, what about one against Donaire!
I LOVE southpaw uppercuts. Amazing shot/KO by Marvin.
Loved how Bute used to throw that shot to the head and body.
Shimoda was just in the process of shifting all his weight onto his right foot too. He basically threw his chin into the way of the punch. :)
Wow is all I can say.
That was right on the sweet spot. Could not have timed it better in a dream. This kid has quality, if he gets his act together he could be great. He's got to start taking the sport seriously though.
