That's why I gotta laugh when I see debates about hypothetical match ups (modern day or cross-generational, whatever) and someone backs their opinion up about who would win by citing what a fighter or trainer thinks, like they're some infallible authority. Fighters and trainers fuck up predictions just as much as the average joe IMO. Manny Stewart thought Sharmba Mitchell would beat Floyd Mayweather.
And for credit to Broner, at least he took his beating like a man (except for the headbutt acting) and finished the fight. He didn't quit when Maidana turned the heat up on him.
well after you tell the world you will slaughter Maidana and he is nothing, a walk in the park, and you make pussy faces and chew gum like lil Bazooka Joe cutie-pie pussy-face Broner did, and stutter and smile like Floyd Mayweather, you have no choice after all that trash talking to hold in your bowels and take your beating like a man.
Yeah, I'll give him that.
And he will NOT be back. At all. Ever.
Half expecting him to start dealing out a hand of Blackjack there ???
I think Ortiz wants to be serious when he says things like "He's back" and "He's hungry". But I also think hes too laid back and possibly a little too immature to really buckle down with his career.
When you hear a fighter (with that kind of talent) say things like that, mean, go out and do it, that fighter isn't joking around about things. He is serious and focused. If a reporter askes him "What about you and _____"? The truly focused fighter will say "All im thinking about is Callazo".
And at the very least a truly focused fighter would know he is fighting for a belt. That in itself says it all to me.
Ortiz is a beast no doubt about it. He should probably sill be a reighning champ and we should be talking about where he will rank amongst the greats.
I just think hes too laid back. He has that hippy/surfer dude/free spirit type personality.
