Brilliant promotor, great matchmaker, proper old school character. Legend in British Boxing. Jewish Immigrant who took his English name from a James Cagney film. Will not see his like again. RIP.
He was British boxing. R.I.P. What a loss to boxing around the world.
He had a death threat from the Kray twins once :)
Proper old school hustler, Honeyghan, Calzaghe, Woodhall, Bruno, Watt, Minter.....
Involved with 50 World Champions in his time!
He got me started loving boxing bringing it on BBC and seeing Graham and Mcguigan. Legend.
Great promoter, who would match his fighters any where for a shot, Honey and the Beast spring to mind.
Yes Mickey Duff and Terry Lawless, boxing on the BBC great stuff all for free old Harry Carpenter
as well happy day's, RIP Mickey Duff.
I like the old school Jewish /English people a tenacious lot in business and are faithful to their own and their likes.Lucky for him and for boxing, that his parents had the foresight to get out of Germany when they did.
RIP>
He was living beside Marble Arch but he got Alzheimer's and had to be put in a home. Had a hell of a life though. RIP.
