Australia's Daniel Geale is set to take on British boxer Matthew Macklin in a fight in the United States next month.
Geale announced the May 24 bout on the social networks on Sunday, although details are yet to be confirmed.
"Management are finalizing negotiations and expect to make an announcement shortly....!!" said the former WBA and IBF middleweight champion.
Geale has only fought once since losing his IBF world title to Darren Barker last August, crushing compatriot Garth Wood in February.
The 33-year-old had been hoping to tackle hard-hitting WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin - who destroyed Macklin in three rounds in June 2013.
Macklin won his last fight against American Lamar Russ in December last year.
Geale (30-2, 16KOs) vs. Macklin (30-5, 20KOs) would take place on HBO as part of a doubleheader, with Bryant Jennings facing Mike Perez in the main event.

Turning out to be a nice card. I suppose Geale should beat a guy like Macklin but if it gets into a tear up I give Macklin every chance. Winner gets sturm i suppose?

Great fight of top ten middleweights. Frankly, that fight improves the card a lot. Damn solid card now. If Geale wins, I can see Geale - GGG at the end of the year.

I doubt the winner will fight GGG, it will probably be Strum.

Jesus I hope the winner doesnt face GGG.. ggg shouldnt fight any more B level oppositions..

Well he did destroy Macklin so he will not have to fight him again.
